Gotterdammerung, the strongest sword for Clive for the first playthrough of Final Fantasy XVI (FF16), can only be obtained via crafting using extremely rare materials listed below. To begin forging the legendary weapon, you must first get the Gotterdammerung Crafting Recipe by clearing the Blacksmith’s Blues side questline.

At a massive 375 Attack and Stagger (Will damage), Gotterdammerung is the best weapon for Clive in New Game, only bested by the post-game armament Ultima Weapon which you can only craft on Final Fantasy Mode (NG+). Before starting NG+, it is highly recommended to have obtained Gotterdammerung which will serve you well until you can finally replace it with the much more powerful Ultima Weapon.

Required for Half-Past Twilight Achievement (Silver Trophy) – Missable
Forging Gotterdammerung unlocks the Half Past Twilight achievement (Silver trophy). Note that it is possible to get locked out of getting this achievement for the rest of your playthrough if you sold off any of the materials required to forge the legendary weapon. You will only get the chance to forge Gotterdammerung and unlock its associated trophy in a NG+.
