Is Leviathan in Final Fantasy XVI (FF16)?

Leviathan, one of the most iconic Summons in the Final Fantasy series, does not make an appearance during the main story of Final Fantasy XVI (FF16). The absence of the well-known sea monster as one of the game’s Eikons and its possible Dominant is currently unknown.

What convincingly looks like Leviathan’s silhouette appears in the Ambition trailer for FF16. Towards the end of the preview video, a mural of the game’s various Eikons is shown, among them believed to be Leviathan. Below is a screenshot of the specific scene in the trailer showing what resembles Leviathan.

What is likely to be Leviathan can also be seen alongside the other Eikons on the FF16 Collector’s Edition box as shown in the image below. Whether the figure is actually the series’ most recognizable beast of the depths has also yet to be confirmed.

Leviathan and its corresponding Dominant could appear in future DLC that expands on the game’s narrative, either as a continuation of the main story or as a series of side events that occurred outside of the main character Clive’s point of view.
