How to Combo (Against Regular Enemies)
Combo Input
- Press □ + × → Immediately press △ → (Enemy down) → Press □ + × at the same time to automatically approach again → Punish with □ (Final attack).
You can defeat regular enemies that appear in the early stages of the game easily using this combo. If the enemy is still alive, use □ △ to reduce their remaining HP.
Almost all regular enemies can be knocked down with this method, allowing you to take down even does with solid defenses.
Bear in mind that it is easy to make mistakes during combos so if you are surrounded by enemies, dodge and run to a safe place or use Phoenix’s Scarlet Cyclone move to knock enemies away.
How to Combo (Against Bosses)
Combo Input
- Press □ + × → Immediately △ → Evade with R1.
The combo for regular enemies basically still applies to bosses.
Bosses, however, generally do not go get knocked down during combos so after approaching with a lunge and shooting a magic burst, immediately go into dodge with R1.
If you also seen an opening after the enemy attacks, repeat the Lunge → Magic Burst → Evasion combo.
Cannot be used against airborne enemies.
Lunge is a skill that can only be used on enemies on the ground. It cannot be performed on enemies in the air.
For airborne enemies, use Garuda Embrace to pull them from the air or approach them with Phoenix Shift and then drop them towards the ground with Down Thrust.
Recommended Usage and Timing of Eikon Abilities
You can use them more often against regular enemies.
Try to use Eikon Abilities as often as possible when up against regular enemies. There are many powerful moves unique to each Eikon that can turn the tide of battle to your advantage, so you should actively use them.
Use them wisely during boss battles.
Even in boss battles, you can basically use Eikon moves as often as you like.
You will, however, want to have Eikon attacks ready when the boss is in Takedown state (staggered). Because of this, try to save your Eikon moves when you have reduced the boss’ Will gauge to about half.
Bosses and other strong enemies take increased damage when they are in Takedown so try to accumulate damage with a combo of △△ ( normal attack → Magic Burst ) first. Then, use Eikon attacks to stack even more damage on your foe.
How to Use Eikon Abilities
Eikon Ability Command Input
- R2 → □ or △
Eikon Abilities are special skills that can only be used during combat.
You can set up to 2 Eikon Abilities at first. To use them, press the corresponding button while holding down R2.
