What is the Primal Knife?

The Primal Knife is a secret obtainable knife weapon in Resident Evil 4 Remake. While seemingly no different than the Combat Knife or other blade weapons Leon can use in the game, the Primal Knife can actually be upgraded to become indestructible. This will prevent it from losing durability through constant use against enemies throughout the main story.

Unlocked by finding and destroying all 16 Clockwork Castellans figures in the game.

To get the Primal Knife, you find and shoot all 16 Clockwork Castellan figures found in the game’s 16 main story chapters. Note that you do not need to have knocked out all toy collectibles in one playthrough.

After destroying all Clockwork Castellan toys and clearing the main game, the Primal Knife will be added to the Extra Content Shop (Weapons). This can be purchased using Completion Points (CP) rewarded for completing Challenges.

Primal Knife Unbreakable Perk

To make the Primal Knife indestructible, you must first purchase all tune-up (upgrade) stages for the weapon. Afterwards, the Exclusive weapon upgrade (becomes indestructible) will become available on the tune-up screen. Note that you can skip the initial requirements by purchasing Exclusive Upgrade Tickets using Spinels.

Other Gun Effects and Mechanics

More powerful but slightly slower than the Combat Knife.

The Primal Knife has higher attack power compared than the Combat Knife while slightly losing in terms of attack speed. Nevertheless, the Primal Knife’s Indestructible perk gives it the edge as it will save you a bit of time and money form having to constantly restore your blade’s durability while progressing through the game.
