This is the Black Cerberus Boss Guide for The Surge. It includes the strategy, boss moves, and move explanation.
Black Cerberus Boss Guide
Black Cerberus is encountered in the Armory area of the Executive Forum.
Strategy
1st Phase
The boss is a highly-armored counterpart of a high-speed Scarab/Lynx Rig, which makes it a well-balanced human who wields a two handed axe to deal massive amounts of damage. His axe is imbued with lightning which he can swing with ease. Be careful of being hit by his strikes as some of it can paralyze you for a short period of time.
The best technique here is to hit Black Cerberus with a fully upgraded single-rigged weapon while he’s swung his blade and missed. He’ll need to recover for a while, so you should go in for the kill and hit him once. Keep repeating the process until he cowardly runs back to his control room to activate a P.A.X. to destroy you.
2nd Phase
During the second phase he will summon a PAX mech to help him defeat you. These P.A.X.s don’t have the rocket attack, so you can’t easily down them unless you aim for the foot connected to the ground while mid-stomp. Make sure to use a medium-speed weapon to hit the standing leg, then switch to your best Damage-Dealing weapon afterwards. In addition, while you are dealing with the PAX, Black Cerberus will regenerate his health slowly, so make sure that you can deal with them at the same time in order to defeat them faster. Be aggressive in attack them, but be careful of their attacks.
The PAX mech moves similar to the first boss of the game, for the complete guide on how to defeat this PAX and the first boss, click here.
Three mechs will come and attack you sequentially. Every time you take a significant chunk of Black Cerberus’ health, he’ll call in PAX to kill you. The way to alleviate this is to fill PAX’s orange meter, run across the area towards the white cylinders, and then use its cannon to blow up each cylinder. The key here is to dodge while the shell is coming after you.
Once you’ve taken out each cylinder, you can now focus on Black Cerberus without any hindrances.
