Velvet’s Battle style

With fast kicks, her style consists of employing Martial Artes using her legs.
Velvet’s hidden Artes also showcases her right hand Gauntlet which contains a blade useful for slashing enemies. Her Gauntlet is also endowed with special effects which vary across different enemy races, allowing her to gain advantage during battle.

Soul Break

Consume Claw

When Velvet has at least 3 Souls in her Soul Gauge (SG), press and hold R2 to activate her Soul Break “Consume Claw.” Once activated, it consumes 1 Soul and Velvet will shift to her “Consume Claw” state. In addition, her HP decreases gradually while the state is active, and HP decrease worsens the longer the state is activated.

However during the “Consume Claw” state, Velvet can recover HP lost by attacking enemies using a combination of Base and Arcane Artes. By using Soul Break multiple times, she can prolong the “Consume Claw” state by keeping the Combo chain going.

During this state, the corresponding Arcane Artes sets in when HP is at 1 or when total cooperation and additional attacks are met. As a matter of fact, Velvet gains Stat buffs during the “Consume Claw” state but the effects of each vary according to the race of the target enemy during combat.

The table summarizes the Stats effect during the “Consume Claw” state

Heaven’s Claw: Learned at Lv 23

To activate Heaven’s Claw, press R2 after one-Arte chain while Velvet’s “Consume Claw” state is set. This consumes 1 Soul. Bear in mind that in order to trigger this Soul Break, not only does it require at least 1-arte chain, but it also requires timing. This is recommended against enemies with that resist Velvet’s attacks.

Although this Soul Break allows Velvet to absorb HP, “Consume Claw” has no recovery.

Hell’s Claw: Learned at Lv 33

At the cost of 1 Soul, Velvet can perform the Hell’s Claw. To perform, press R2 during the “Consume Claw” state after an Artechain. This Soul Break is helpful when Velvet performs it at a distance and while she is surrounded by several enemies. However, contrary to Heaven’s Claw, this is executable only after a 2-Arte Chain.

Nightmare Claw: Learned at Lv 62

While “Consume Claw” is still active and at least 20 seconds have already passed, Velvet can perform Nightmare Claw after finishing at least a 3-Arte Chain. This also requires at least 1 Soul.

In addition to prolonging an Arte Chain, it is required to activate the Mystic Arte “Impulse Desire.” This Soul Break unleashes tremendous amounts of damage.

Mystic Artes

Lethal Pain (Mystic Arte)

With at least 3 BG, perform this Mystic Arte by chaining with an Arte then press and hold L2.

Severe Destruction Impact (Intermediate Mystic Arte)

For the cost of 4 BG, press and hold L2 when Velvet finishes at least an 8-Arte Chain.

Impulse Desire (Highest Mystic Arte)

At the cost of 5 BG, press and hold L2 when Nightmare Claw is active.

How to Obtain Nightmare Claw and Impulse Desire

Defeat the God of Death Slanderer at the Eight-headed Dragon, Innominat.
