Tips and Tricks: Exploiting the Retreat Glitch [Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia]

This article explains the Retreat Exploit for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

Retreat Glitch in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

In Fire Emblem Echoes, there’s a particular glitch known as the Retreat glitch. As far as we know, there’s no penalty for retreating but this can save you from a whole lot of headaches. This especially works if you’re going through boss battles. Also, this helps you if you just want to make sure all your allies are still alive and the sort.

Say for example, you’re in a battle with a particularly tough boss. Let’s say you really want that Dracoshield off from Desaix but all his mini-minions are giving you problems. What you can do is this – you can start picking them off one by one until Slayde and Desaix are the only two remaining. Once that happens, retreat especially if Slayde’s really low on life. If Slayde dies, you can’t get your precious Dracoshield. By retreating, you replenish his life and you have a clear shot to take down Desaix for his Dracoshield.

However, this tactic doesn’t usually work for battlefields with Cantors. Unless, if you take out the Cantor first, it’ll be easier for you to battle from there on out instead of having you struggle.

This applies to all battles save for the final battle in the Altar of Duma.
