Cetus Boss Strategy
When the fight starts, Cetus will immediately burrow underground and reposition himself. When he comes out, he will usually do a bite attack telegraphed by his pulling his head back before shooting it towards you. The attack is rather slow so avoiding it (by dodging to the side) should not be too hard. Attack him before he recovers. Cetus can also do a head slam attack if you stand too long near him. Just run to the side and he should miss.
Stay alert throughout as Cetus will occasionally use a tail slam attack that comes from behind you. It is easy to get hit by this move if you fixate on Cetus’ head and body. You can try to stick close to Cetus (at the side of his body) to avoid this attack whenever he is above ground.
Cetus can also hit you from afar with a water ball attack. This projectile has good range and a fairly wide impact radius so you want to keep running sideways whenever you are at a considerable distance from Cetus.
Run away when Cetus burrows underground as he will move towards you and emerge to deal damage. When you see a purple “head” appear, unload on it to force Cetus to resurface. This will give you time to pummel him some more before he can recover.
Do not hesitate to pull back and use items when your HP is low and keep whittling away at Cetus’ health until he is defeated.
