As you go through the main story chapters of Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, you will encounter various enemies and bosses that may become too difficult if your party is not at an adequate level to take them on. Below is a guide on how to level up fast and efficiently in the game.

Before Leveling

It is recommended to take the tips below into consideration before you start focusing on leveling up your characters in the the game.

Adjust the Tactics Tweaker.

Before grinding for experience, it is recommended to adjust the Tactics Tweaker to maximize the amount of experience gained for each battle. Try to tweak the settings so that it concentrates to the upper left when you want to level up fast.

Build kingdom facilities that increase experience gained.

As you start to develop your kingdom, you will want to build the Basic Training Ground that allows you to begin research to increase experienced gained in battle, skirmishes, citizen work, and even party members not directly participating in combat.

Leveling in the Early Stages (Chapters 1 to 5)

Do available side quests.

Doing side quests is arguably the best way to earn experience from Chapters 1 to 5 of the main story. Doing so also lets you earn a number of rewards such as useful equipment and citizens to work at your kingdom.

All Side Quests List

Since side quests will not be available from Chapters 1 to 3, you will need to rely on random battles to grind experience if you want to in the beginning. Try to farm areas near save points to allow to recover HP easily between runs.

Overall, it is better to make your way to Chapter 4 of the game to unlock side quests for fast leveling and eventually build the Basic Training Ground facility at the kingdom before you start focusing on farming enemies for experience.

Leveling in the Middle Stages (Chapters 6 to 8)

Do available side quests (including those accessible using the ship and airship).

Side quests will still be your main source of experience as you reach the middle stages of the main story. Since you will gain access to the ship and airship, you will be able to undertake new quests that pit you against stronger enemies.

You will find that you will need to upgrade your kingdom level to progress through this section of the game so try to prioritize side quests that allow you to recruit more citizens.

Hunt Tainted Monsters

Defeating Tainted Monsters rewards you with a lost of experience. In addition, some Tainted Monsters are tied to a few side quests, allowing you to level up while collecting useful equipment and recruiting more citizens for your kingdom.

Leveling in the Late Stages (Chapters 9 up to the post-game section)

Hunt any remaining Tainted Monsters

Many of the Tainted Monsters that you can encounter from Chapter 9 and in the post-game sections are immensely powerful but reward massive amounts of experience when they are defeated. Some post-game side quests also force you into encountering the last few Tainted Monsters so you will be killing two birds with one stone by clearing them.
