Game Overview

Nintendo Switch Sports is a single-player and multiplayer sports simulation video game. The game is developed by Nintendo Entertainment Planning and Development (Nintendo EPD) and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the fourth main entry of the Wii Sports series and it follows Wii Sports Club, the previous entry that launched last July 11, 2014, for the Nintendo Wii U.

Nintendo Switch Sports - Spocco Square

Nintendo Switch Sports utilizes motion and button controls using the Nintendo Switch console’s Joy-Cons. The gyroscope functionality within the Joy-cons is used to simulate the motion in-game instead of the Wii Remote from previous titles. In addition, the Leg Strap from Ring Fit Adventure can also be utilized to assist motion control. The game is scheduled to release on April 29, 2022, and will include a free Leg Strap accessory.

Gameplay

Nintendo Switch Sports shares similar elements from previous Wii Sports titles while having its own new and unique gameplay systems as well. Here is a quick summary of Nintendo Switch Sports’s unique gameplay:

New Sports

Nintendo Switch Sports - Volleyball Spike

Three new sports will debut in this game namely Soccer/Football, Volleyball, and Badminton.

Returning Sports

Nintendo Switch Sports - Chambara Playing Guide

Four sports will carry over from the previous installments namely Tennis, Bowling, Chambara/Swordplay, and Golf. Gold was announced a free update to the game.

Sportsmates

Nintendo Switch Sports - Sportsmates Customization Options

In addition to Wiis, new avatars called Sportsmates are introduced as player avatars. Sportsmates have detailed hair, faces, arms, and legs. Points gathered from competing sports matches can be redeemed for new customizable options.

Online Feature

Nintendo Switch Sports - Pro League Rank Up

As a multiplayer, the game will be available locally and online. Online will allow playing with friends as well as random matchmaking.
