Nintendo Switch Sports supports local multiplayer on one Nintendo Switch device which does not require a Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) subscription and internet connection. This allows up to 4 players to play offline in any of the various mini games available by selecting Play Locally from the game’s start menu.

Additional Joy-Cons Required for Team Events

Events which pit two teams consisting of up to two players will require additional Joy-Cons to begin play. These sports include Volleyball, Tennis, Bowling, and Soccer.

Limited Customization Items Obtainable in Offline Mode

Many Sportsmate customization items such as outfits, accessories, and gear can only obtained by exchanging completion points earned for playing against other players online. Because of this, you may miss out on special items if you only intend to play the game completely offline with friends and family in the same room.
