Mia Winters Boss Guide

First Encounter (Guest House Study)

The first encounter against Mia is fairly straightforward, giving you a good introduction to the feel of melee combat in Resident Evil 7. When she first appears, you will be unarmed and can only resist her assault with her knife. She will soon faint and fall down. She will immediately get up again. This where the real fight starts. Grab the hatchet nearby when she appears. There are two strategies you can employ here. One is to hit her in the face once with the hand axe when she rushes at you. This will almost always stagger her. Just repeat the process until she goes down. Another strategy to use is to block with the hand axe when she strikes, then immediately counter her. Repeat the process and she will go down in no time.

Second Encounter (Attic)

In your second encounter against her, Mia will have a chainsaw with her. Therefore, rushing in is not a good option. By this time though, you should have already obtained the M19 Handgun.

Mia will ambush you from the window above the ladder so make a good distance away from it so you won’t get knocked down by the ladder. Upon landing, she will immediately come at you with the chainsaw, so you will know how good the distance you made was. For most of the fight, you’ll want to keep away from her as much as possible. Just remember that mobility is the key to surviving this fight.

It is actually a pretty easy fight once you exploit her main disadvantage: her range. Since she can only hurt you when she’s close enough, take the time to pick her off with shots from the M19. As always, aim for the head. Weave between the wooden beams in the room to have some obstacles between you and Mia, though be warned that she can cut them down. It’s also a good idea to pick your shots carefully as you don’t want to be running out of bullets in this fight. On the other hand, feel free to use healing items when necessary, as surviving this fight is more important that what lies ahead at the end of the encounter.
