There are two possible endings that the player can opt for in Resident Evil 7. The type of ending is determined by one key event in the game – the hard choice of who to give the last remaining dose of the serum to, which frees either person (Mia or Zoe) from Eveline’s influence. Again, there are major plot spoilers ahead so please be warned.
Unlocking All Endings
Good Ending (Mia survives)
To unlock the good ending, give the serum to Mia instead of Zoe. This will cause Mia to go with Ethan on a boat leaving Louisiana. The escape is foiled however, as Eveline will destroy the boat and gain hold of you. The next few scenes details Mia’s past with Eveline and you’ll have to control her for a short time during the story. When you finish the game’s final encounter with Eveline, you will be reunited with Mia on the chopper that takes you to safety, away from the Dulvey Haunted House.
Bad Ending (Mia dies)
To unlock the bad ending, give the serum to Zoe. This will trigger a chain of events that will lead Ethan to unwillingly kill Mia at the end, as she had remained under the influence of Eveline. Zoe, who Ethan had cured, will also be a lost as Eveline will kill her during the main story. When you get to the chopper at the end of the game, Mia will not be there, obviously. Ethan reflects on the terrible events while trying to accept the ‘confirmed’ death of his wife.
