Ares Island Portals Walkthroughs

Portal 2-1

1 Head to the marked location to look for your allies. Note that you will need 0 Knuckles Memory Tokens to progress through the story.
2 Clear all missions in Portal 2-1. Then, get the Emerald Key.
3 Get the Chaos Emerald.
4 After watching the cutscene, run from the enemy. Then, talk to Knuckles.
5 Collect the required 80 Knuckles Memory Tokens. Then, talk to knuckles again.

Portal 2-2

1 Drain the water in the next section. Then, follow the path forward to Portal 2-2.
2 Clear Portal 2-2 and get the Emerald Key.
3 Get the Chaos Emerald.
4 Find Knuckles. Then, rescue the Special Forces member.
5 Find Knuckles again. Afterwards, get the Chaos Emerald
6 Find Knuckles again for the third time. Then, rescue the stranded unit.

Portal 2-3

1 Defend the front line.
2 Find Knuckles and clear portal 2-3.
3 Get the Chaos Emerald.
4 Take back the Chaos Emerald.
5 Find Knuckles. Then, solve the puzzle by placing the stones of the same color.
6 Go through the cave and go for the head of Wyvern.

Ares Island Challenge Locations and Clearing Conditions

Island Challenge How to Clear
M-026 To deal damage, simply press the □/x button on the pillar.
M-027 Cyloop around the three small sand hills around you.
M-028 As you stand on the pedestal, parry one energy bullet with the L1 + R1 / LB + RB buttons.
M-029 Using the □/x button, activate the hourglass, and then reach the top of the mountain in 30 seconds to activate the plate.
M-030 Simply hold your breath for a second on both plates that are on the ground. Then jump into the air and dash onto the plate with the ◌/b button on the third plate. Repeat two more times.
M-031 Simply run through the blue goals in under 20 seconds.
M-032 Activate the hourglass with the □/x button, then proceed to the first platform and use the Cyloop skill to deactivate the blue light. Repeat for the other two platforms.
M-033 Step on the orange plate, then walk over the highlighted blue plates without touching the other plates.
M-034 Use the □/x button to activate the hourglass and get to the plate in 90 seconds.
M-035 To deal damage, simply press the □/x button on the pillar.
M-036 Use the Cyloop skill around the pedestal, then use the □/x button to kick the blue ball into both rings within the time limit.
M-037 Step on the orange plate, then walk over the highlighted blue plates without touching the other plates.
M-038 Simply press the □/x button to catch the blue orb.
M-039 Get on the pedestal and use the L1 + R1 / LB + RB buttons to deflect three energy bullets.
M-040 To complete this challenge, press the □/x button to activate the hourglass and then follow the path of blue goals.
M-041 Get onto each small pillar, then use the button to jump and dash three times. Do this for each of the three pillars.
M-042 To turn off the flames, use the Cyloop skill. Examine the three pillars next to the flames to determine the order in which you must turn them off.
M-043 To turn off the flames, use the Cyloop skill. Examine the pillars behind the flames to determine the order in which you must turn them off.
M-044 Use the Cyloop skill to extinguish the blue flames; after you extinguish the first two, more will appear nearby. Keep an eye out for them.
M-045 Glide through the blue goals by jumping onto the flower.
M-046 Step on the orange plate, then walk over the highlighted blue plates without touching the other plates.
M-047 Cyloop around the pedestal, then use the □/x button to kick the blue ball into both rings.
M-048 To get on the highlighted plates within the time limit, use L1 + R1 / LB + RB buttons.
M-049 Pass through the two blue goals in front of you, then use the Cyloop skill to loop around the pillar, climb up the tower, and activate the plate on top.
M-050 Using the □/x button, activate the hourglass, jump onto the flower, and glide through the blue goals.
M-051 Step on the orange plate, then walk over the highlighted blue plates without touching the other plates.
M-052 To get on the highlighted plates within the time limit, use L1 + R1 / LB + RB buttons.
M-053 Activate the hourglass with the □/x button, then proceed to the first platform and use the Cyloop skill to deactivate the blue light. Repeat for the other two platforms.
M-054 Using the □/x button, activate the hourglass and follow the path of blue goals; you have 30 seconds to complete this parkour.

  • How to Clear: This level is another easy one to S Rank. Just use the rails to dash through the course and get ready for the narrow platform near the goal.
Cyber Space Portal 2-2 (Sky Sanctuary – Daytime)
  • S: 00:55.00
  • A: 01:00.00
  • B: 01:10.00
  • C: 01:20.00
  • How to Clear: There are moving platforms and thorns near the starting location of this level. If you are aiming to collect coins and Red Star Rings, you may need to redo the level several times.
Cyber Space Portal 2-3 (Chemical Plant)
  • S: 00:55.00
  • A: 01:00.00
  • B: 01:10.00
  • C: 01:20.00
  • How to Clear: This level is somewhat challenging to S rank as you will need to operate the cannon quickly. When you reach the middle stage of the level, try to take the upper route to reach the goal faster.
Cyber Space Portal 2-4 (Chemical Plant)

  • C: 01:35.00
  • How to Clear: This level is another easy one to S Rank. Follow that path and launch Sonic upwards. Then, keep using rails and the two bars to finish the challenge faster.
Cyber Space Portal 2-5 (Green Hill – Daytime)
  • S: 01:10.00
  • A: 01:15.00
  • B: 01:25.00
  • C: 01:35.00
  • How to Clear: This level is somewhat challenging to S rank as you must time your jumps and avoid obstacles or enemies. Use the moving bars to go upward and the clouds to move forward. After passing through the middle point, evade the thorns while going east further and hitting the blue button. Make use of the moving bars and clouds again to reach the finish.
Cyber Space Portal 2-6 (Green Hill – Daytime)
  • S:02:25.00
  • A:02:30.00
  • B:02:40.00
  • C:02:50.00
  • How to Clear: This level is relatively linear. Always accelerate while on the rails and use its momentum to jump quicker on spring propellers. Evade enemies and obstacles as you reach the upper sections of the challenge.
Cyber Space Portal 2-7 (Sky Sanctuary – Daytime)

  • A:01:35.00

  • C:01:55.00
  • How to Clear: This level is challenging to S rank because you need to avoid pitfalls and enemies already at the beginning. Keep on dashing because the red-marked white platforms and green pathways will slowly drop.
