Sonic Frontiers features various difficulty modes that affects gameplay and encountered enemies on different zones. Below is a list of all difficulty settings in the game with details on each of them.

Difficulty can be changed at any time

You can increase or lower the game’s difficulty at any time during play to suit your preferences. It can be available to change after clearing the first stage, 1-1. Shortly after selecting the difficulty mode at the start of the game, you will be able to change it by pulling up the game’s menu and then go to Options → Game Settings → Difficulty.

The difficulty affects the enemies’ health on how much their HP is during combat. Below is a list of all available difficulty modes:

  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Hard

Which Difficulty Should You Choose?

Play on Normal difficulty

Whether you are a beginner player or someone who played a Sonic game before, it is generally recommended to select Normal difficulty. This is to give yourself an introduction to the level of combat the game offers at its default setting. From here, you can decide whether to lower or increase the difficulty based on how you want to play the game and how you are doing against enemies and stages on Normal.

Additional Settings

Aside from choosing the Difficulty, you can also select and enable other settings that may help you with your gameplay. You can choose to enable the “Training during loading/game over” which allows you to have a quick tutorial or have some tips on how you can get through a certain course. As well as getting “Notifications” which may give you small hints and reminders as you play and explore the game.
