The Uncharted franchise has been widely acclaimed by critics and game media publications of raising the standards of single-player games. With the release of the groundbreaking second installment Uncharted: Among Thieves, reviewers and players alike have hailed the series for high production values, an immersive narrative, realistic and interesting characters and outstanding gameplay. On several cases, the experience it delivered has been likened to Hollywood-produced action movies, most notably the Indiana Jones films. The Uncharted series has sold over 28 million copies (before the release of Uncharted 4). Uncharted 4 continued this legacy by selling over 8.7 million copies worldwide, and has cemented the series’ spot as one of the most successful titles today.
Uncharted follows the adventures of the charismatic yet rebellious treasure hunter Nathan “Nate” Drake on his journeys around the world to discover secrets left behind by past civilizations. Players will need ingenuity and skill to traverse often perilous locations to uncover various treasures and mysteries.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a standalone expansion pack to Uncharted 4 on the Playstation 4. This latest content added to the series follows Indian-Australian treasure hunter Chloe Frazer (first introduced in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves) who is now working with Nadine Ross, the former Shoreline leader, on a dangerous search for the mystical artifact called the Tusk of Ganesha in India.
The Lost Legacy as a Standalone Expansion Pack
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is full game itself, though is considered a DLC as part of the Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End narrative. It has been revealed that the DLC or standalone game will take more than 10 hours to complete.
The Lost Legacy is set after the events of A Thief’s End. Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross go on a hunt for a fabled treasure only known as the Tusk of Ganesha. They travel to India in a race against a ruthless war monger named Asav, who intends to use the artifact for his nefarious deeds. Expect to traverse the Indian mountains, forests and enemy encampments to prevent the world from being plunged into chaos.
Announced in December 3, 2016 at the Playstation Experience, The Lost Legacy takes inspiration from Hinduism and India’s rich mythology which are intertwined with its narrative. Among the expectations that Naughty Dog aims to deliver to the overall experience of the new content is described below.
”We wanted this adventure to feature all of the hallmarks of the series, from cinematic storytelling set within exotic destinations, to dynamic combat and intricate puzzles. It’s our biggest story expansion to-date and will be available as a standalone game on store shelves and for digital download.” – Naughty Dog
Chloe Frazer as the Main Protagonist
Chloe debut in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and went on to make another appearance in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. This marks her third appearance in the franchise as one of the most enduring and popular characters in the game.
With Chloe as the game’s main character, players will get to experience her own unique methods of tackling the adventure. Chloe’s approach to hostile situations is rather different from Nate from the previous games. While Nate was seen as more of a “brawler”, preferring to take on opponents up close, Chloe will have more indirect options for taking out enemies.
This is furthered reinforced by the game’s upgraded stealth combat. Chloe will be able to use silenced weapons to neutralize enemies at long range.
