What are Breakstorms?
Breakstorms are a special type of environmental phenomenon in Forspoken that are causes a specific area in Athia to be covered in a miasma-like tempest brought about by the Break. This hazardous condition causes hordes of monsters to appear, including powerful creatures known as Nightmares.
Breakstorm Occurrence
It is currently unknown if Breakstorms occur at random as you explore the vast landscapes of Athia and how long the event lasts in-game. More information on this will be added when they are confirmed.
Nightmares
Nightmares are incredibly formidable enemies that are found in the middle of Breakstorms. They essentially serve as mini bosses that you can take down to earn special rewards. You can view a list of all Nightmares in Forspoken, including their locations, and rewards and drops obtained for defeating them from the link below.
Useful Information and Tips for Breakstorms
- While yet to be confirmed, it may be possible to escape from Breakstorms instead of taking on the hordes of monsters and the Nightmare that inhabit them. If you are not strong enough, you could just simply avoid Breakstorms and move on with the main story.
- Nightmares are different from Ultimate Breakbeasts which are encountered in Combat Challenges. The former are also likely to be significantly weaker compared to the latter.
