Excavation Site
Investigate the Banished Dig Site
| 1 | Head to the marked location. |

| 2 | Along the way, you are likely to come across Forward Operating Base (FOB) Echo to the northeast. It is situated above the hill so grappleshot your way to the area. The, Grunts, Brutes, and Jackals are easy enough to deal with if you take cover nearby. Just make sure to avoid taking fire from the Banished Ship patrolling above. |
| 3 | Interact with the terminal to free the FOB from the network. |
| 4 | Continue heading for the Banished dig site. |
Find Entry into the Conservatory – Descend into the Conservatory
| 1 | When you reach the dig site, move around the right perimeter of the area to reach the entrance to the conservatory. |

Disable the Laser Drill (1)
| 1 | Banished enemies will appear all around the area so focus on clearing them out first. |

| 2 | To the right of the laser drill is a gravity lift that allows you to reach the control panel. |
| 3 | Deal with the enemies along the corridors while following the mission marker to the laser drill control panel. |
| 4 | Just across the control panel is a Banished Audio Log you can pick up. Afterwards, move all the way near the end of the corridor to find a UNSC Audio Log. |
| 5 | Interact with the terminal to disable the laser drill. |
| 6 | Watch the cutscene. |
Disable Regulator 1 and 2
| 1 | Before heading out to the left or right exits of the laser drill’s control deck, head out into the overlook opposite the control panel and pick off the Grunts and Brutes there. |

| 2 | Afterwards, head to the right or left exit (the first regulator is the one to the left of the control panel while the second is the one to the right). You can try to snipe some of the enemies from the door or immediately head down to disable the regulator. |
Destroy the Cooling Pylons
| 1 | Use the scanner to locate the two cooling pylons (they will appear as two markers stacked on top of each other). Remember to move from cover to cover as the enemies positioned above the area pack heavy firepower if you stay still in the open even for a second. |

| 2 | Each Pylon has two breakable spots that you can destroy so take your time whittling away while avoiding incoming fire from above. Equipping a sniper makes this a bit easier as you will be able to hit the pylons from longer distances. |
| 3 | Once you have destroyed all four cooling pylons, the laser drill will overheat and explode. |
Disable the Laser Drill (2)
Defeat Bassus
| 1 | Head back up the laser drill control panel to try and disable the drill again. |

| 2 | Prepare to battle Bassus. |
| 3 | Bassus only uses his Gravity Hammer to deal damage so keep moving away and focus on depleting his shield. Then, aim for headshots and run away again when he gets too close. You can also Grappleshot away to create more space from Bassus. Just make him run around the area while peppering him with shots (preferably at the area behind the control deck where there are two ramps) and he should go down without too much trouble. |
| 4 | Approach the laser drill control panel again to finally disable it. |
