Buster Sword Proficiency Guide for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion
This page contains a guide on Buster Sword Proficiency in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion (FFVII CC Remaster/Crisis Core Reunion), including how to unlock the mechanic, how to increase Proficiency levels, benefits of raising it, and other useful tips.
How to Unlock Buster Sword Proficiency
Reach Chapter 5 of the main story.
You can unlock Buster Sword Proficiency after obtaining the Buster Sword from Angeal during Chapter 5 of the main story. It is also the only way to unlock the Battle Stance command in the game.
How to Increase Buster Sword Proficiency
While wielding the Buster Sword, Zack can unleash a Strong Attack by assuming the Battle Stance (done by pressing □+×). This allows you to increase Buster Sword Proficiency by repeatedly throwing out Strong Attacks or by using abilities while in Battle Stance mode.
You can only increase Buster Sword Proficiency by up to 0.33% per battle. To raise Proficiency efficiently, end the fight as quickly as possible after raising it and go into battle again.
Benefits of Increasing Buster Sword Proficiency
Damage Limit Break
Raising Zack’s Buster Sword Proficiency to above 21% will activate a Damage Limit Break effect which lets you deal more than 9999 damage when using regular attacks and abilities while in Battle Stance.
Increases the Damage Multiplier of Strong Attacks
Increasing proficiency will increase the damage multiplier of strong attacks and abilities.
Other benefits of this mechanic are currently being investigated, though you may be able to unlock more Buster Sword abilities by increasing Proficiency in the game.
Note that improving Buster Sword Proficiency takes a bit of time so just try to steadily increase it while going through the main story.
The Necrosmose Effect is Also Unlocked
The Buster Sword Proficiency mechanic is unlocked at the same time as Necrosmose system. The latter lets Zack recover 20% of his HP, MP, and AP when defeating enemies without getting hit. Because of this, try to get comfortable dodging incoming attacks or taking down foes as fast as possible to consistently trigger Necrosmose.
