What is the Battle Tower?

The Battle Tower is a post-game area in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (Pokemon BDSP) that allows you to engage in consecutive battles against various NPC trainers. Among the main purposes for spending time in the Battle Tower is to accumulate Battle Points or BP which you can trade for rare items.

How to Unlock the Battle Tower

Sail to the Battle Zone from Snowpoint City after becoming Champion and acquiring the National Pokedex.

The Battle Tower can only be accessed after beating the game. This means that you need to defeat the Elite Four (Aaron, Bertha, Flint, and Lucian) and the Sinnoh Pokemon League Champion (Cynthia) before you can reach the Battle Tower. Note that you must also have acquired the National Pokedex from Professor Oak after seeing all 151 Sinnoh region Pokemon.

How to Unlock the National Pokedex

After meeting these requirements, head to Snowpoint City and sail to the Battle Zone (Fight Area). Upon arriving in the Fight Area, take the path that goes from the right of the Pokemon Center to reach the Battle Park where the Battle Tower is located.

Battle Tower Formats and Mechanics

Single and Double Battles

The Battle Tower allows you to take part in consecutive Single or Double Battles against 7 trainers. During battles, all of your Pokemon will be synched to level 50 regardless of their current moves and stats (IVs). This means that you will only get to rely on keen strategy and type advantages to win.

You will automatically be transferred to the Battle Tower lobby after winning all 7 matches or losing one. In the case of the former, you will be rewarded with 3 BP after clearing a room and can begin another set of 7 battles to extend your win streak.

Note that win steaks in Single and Double Battles are counted separately so you should choose to focus on one format if you intend to grind wins.

Lastly, you do not  earn experience (EXP) from winning matches in the Battle Tower.

Tower Tycoon Palmer

Tower Tycoon Palmer, the father of one of your rivals, will challenge you on your 21st and 49th Single Battle. He is an extremely formidable trainer so be sure to take advantage of his team’s weaknesses to defeat him. After beating Tower Tycoon Palmer, you will be rewarded with 20 BP.
