What is an Ability Capsule?
The Ability Capsule is a rare usable item in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (Pokemon BDSP) that changes a Pokemon’s normal Ability into its other normal Ability.
The item is particularly useful for competitive play as it allows you to tailor a Pokemon’s Ability that complements its moveset and role in the team. Note that the item must can only be used outside of battle on a Pokemon species that has more than one normal Ability. It is also worth mentioning that the new normal Ability acquired through use of the Ability Capsule is retained even after a Pokemon evolves.
Where to Get an Ability Capsule
Battle Tower BP Exchange
You can get Ability Capsules at the Battle Tower exchange counter for 50 Battle Points (BP) each. Since they cost a good amount of BP to get, try to decide carefully the Pokemon you want to use it on. You can also trade in 200 BP to obtain Ability Patches, which changes a Pokemon’s normal Ability into its Hidden Ability.
Turn Off Autosave Before Using
It is recommended to turn off the autosave feature beforehand to avoid making any mistakes when using Ability Capsules in the game.
