New Features in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl boasts a number of new features not found in the original versions of the game. Below are some of the major additions in the remake that players can experience on their journey across the Sinnoh Region.
Grand Underground
The Grand Underground is an upgraded version of The Underground area in the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl versions. Consisting of a massive network of caves that span the entire territory beneath the Sinnoh Region, the expanded hub features a number of activities that you can participate in.
After acquiring the Explorer Kit, you can journey through the Grand Underground to dig up treasure and Pokemon fossils, build your very own Secret Base, and explore a brand new type of area called Pokemon Hideaways.
Pokemon Hideaways
New explorable areas called Pokemon Hideaways can be accessed in the Grand Underground. Pokemon Hideaways are locations with varying terrain and environmental conditions where rare Pokemon not appearing anywhere else can be found.
Various Hideaways accommodate Pokemon of different types such as Fire, Ice, Water, and Grass. You can increase the rate of encountering specific types of Pokemon by placing Pokemon Statues in your Secret Base.
Changing Outfits
Changing your character’s outfits has been added in Pokemon BDSP. By visiting special shops such as Metronome Style Shop in Veilstone City, you can swap out a number of different sets of outfits which are reflected on your character as you journey throughout the Sinnoh region.
Platinum-style Outfits (Early-purchase Bonus)

Upon pre-ordering Pokemon BDSP, you will receive a special Platinum-style Outfit Set through the Mystery Gift function in the game on February 21, 2022. Note that an internet connection and Nintendo Account is required to redeem the free DLC.
Walking with Your Pokemon
Pokemon BDSP will also allow you to walk with your Pokemon after visiting Amity Square for the first time. Having one of your Pokemon accompany you on the road lets you talk to them and see their different behaviors and reactions throughout your adventure.
Capsule Decorations
Capsule Decorations lets you attach special Stickers on Ball Capsules to create visual effects whenever you send Pokemon out in battle. These can be purchased from various shops or even obtained as rewards for defeating Gym Leaders. You can place up to 20 Capsule Decorations on each Ball Capsule while choosing from a selection of more than 90 Stickers found throughout the game.
Union Room
The Union Room is Pokemon BDSP’s online lobby that lets you trade, battle, and engage in other fun activities with other players locally or from around the world. Choose the Local Room to connect with other Trainers nearby or use the Global Room to meet other people online.
