How to Get the Poke Radar in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
The Poke Radar is a key item you can obtain in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (Pokemon BDSP) that lets you find specific wild Pokemon hiding in tall grass. Using the tool is also one of the ways to make hunting for Shiny Pokemon easier.
Where to Get the Poke Radar
Given by Professor Oak after beating the game and seeing all Sinnoh Region Pokemon
The Poke Radar can only be obtained after you have become the Champion and have seen all 151 Pokemon in the Sinnoh Region Pokedex which is fairly far into the game already. Head to Ramanas Park and talk to Professor Rowan to receive the Poke Radar after you have completed the requirement.
Use it by Selecting it From Your Bag or Accessing it From the Quick Tool Menu
Once you have obtained the Poke Radar, it can used by selecting it from your bag or by accessing it through the quick tool menu at any time while you are adventuring.
National Pokedex
Note that encountering every Pokemon in the Sinnoh Pokedex also unlocks the National Pokedex (National Mode) which is given to you by Professor Oak. This will allow you to find and catch Gen 1 to 4 starter Pokemon in the Grand Underground’s different biomes.
How to Get All Gen 1 to 4 Starters
Using the Poke Radar to Catch Shiny Pokemon
Watch for Sparkling or Glowing Spots in the Grass
When using the Poke Radar, you sometimes find something sparkling or glowing in the grass. This indicates the presence of a Shiny Pokemon so be sure to engage it in battle to catch it. The odds of encountering Shinies increase depending on the number of Pokemon of that species you have caught or defeated. This includes Chain Encounters triggered using the Poke Radar.
