Best Materia Explanation
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion All Materia List
Costly Punch (Command Materia)
Costly Punch is the strongest Command Materia in the game as it ignores all enemies’ defense (it will bypass any resistance as the attack is considered non-physical and non-magic/elemental). This will allow you to deal up to 9999 damage to any foe in the game at the cost of a portion of Zack’s HP.
Curaga (Magic Materia)
Curaga is essentially your go-to healing spell and works extremely well when spamming Costly Punch to keep Zack’s HP at safe levels. Just make sure carry some Ether or Elixirs when you find yourself running low on MP.
Mug (Command Materia)
Many useful Materia, accessories, and items can be stolen from various enemy’s in the game so having access to the Mug command is recommended. Mug is particularly helpful during the fight against the superboss Minerva as you will be able to steal Phoenix Downs from her to stay alive during the encounter.

Quake (Magic Materia)
While not boasting the same range as Ultima, Quake has a significantly faster cast time which lets you end regular battles quickly. This is useful for farming Gil, experience, SP, and fusion materials from enemies throughout the game.
Boosting Stats through Materia
Achieved through Materia Fusion
It is recommended to use the Materia listed above with additional effects to raise Zack’s stats. Through Materia Fusion, try to aim for HP + 999%, Strength +100, and Spirit +100 to make Zack as strong as possible in battle.
