Corruptor Strategy Guide [Horizon Zero Dawn]

This page contains a full strategy guide on how to defeat the Corruptor, including enemy stats, weapons, attacks and item drops.

Corruptors are extremely dangerous predators that have the ability to corrupt other machines, making them stronger and more aggressive. They are well-armed for melee and ranged combat and are very mobile. Taking them on is made even more challenging by the number of corrupted machines (such as Watchers) that do their bidding, so engage them with great caution.

Strategy

Corruptors are very versatile when engaged in combat. At close range, they can use their scorpion-like tails to strike you. If you get too far, they can resort to firing corruption projectiles or pounce on you. What’s more, they are usually surrounded by machines that they have corrupted, so you’ll have to be mindful of multiple threats during such encounters.

When you engage a Corruptor, use Focus to quickly pinpoint their vulnerabilities (their shoulder-mounted grenade launchers). You can also try to use Tripcasters to stun them for some free hits with a melee weapons as they are helpless.

The important thing to remember is that you should focus your attention on the Corruptors themselves and not on the corrupted machines. You should only take out a few of the mobs when it becomes completely unmanageable (when the corrupted machines are more than three), then go for the Corruptor. Mobility is the key to taking out the Corruptors, so stay agile and always be mindful of where the Corruptor is among the mob.
