Striders Stats and Strategy Guide [Horizon Zero Dawn]

Striders are common low-level Machines found throughout the world of Horizon Zero Dawn. Normally placid and docile, the horse-like Striders have two ways of reacting to an attack from Aloy: either they will retreat and close ranks, or become very aggressive and tenacious.

Blaze Canister – If you use Focus, you will see that the Blaze Canister located at the back of a Strider is its weak point. Shooting at the canister can trigger a large explosion that rains damage over a wide area, so keep your distance when doing so. Striders will also face the enemy when it senses that it is being shot at, hiding the Blaze canister from direct attacks.

Strategy

The best way to start off a Strider hunt is to approach one slowly and stealthily. Sneak on one up carefully so as not to arouse the rest of the herd, then bring it down as fast as you can. Striders are susceptible to Lures and Silent Strikes. However, when Striders are agitated, they can unleash a flurry of wild bucking kicks.

A Strider’s body is lightly armored, so several regular arrows can kill it, but if you don’t want the Machine to go to waste, it may be better to override a Strider and turn it to a Mount. Striders are one of the three kinds of Machines in Horizon Zero Dawn that can be turned to Mounts. The Blaze Canister at the back of a Strider can also be shot off, and its materials mined.
