House cannot be changed.

Hogwarts Legacy - Sorting Hat

The House you choose to be sorted into cannot be changed afterwards. Because of this, decide carefully whether you want to be part of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff when starting a New Game as the Common Rooms, House robes, main story events and non-player character (NPC) dialogue are different for each House.

Which House Should You Choose in Hogwarts Legacy?

Multiple character slots let you create one character to join each House.

Note that Hogwarts Legacy gives you four (4) character slots to create four unique characters in the game. This essentially lets you make one character to join each of the four Houses so you do not need to worry about missing out on getting the all of the Map Chamber achievements (more information on this below).

Character appearance (physical features) cannot be changed.

Hogwarts Legacy - Character Creation 3

After making your character in the Character Creation screen at the start of the game, you will no longer be able to change your physical features such as gender, facial details, and voice. To avoid having to restart the main story again, spend as much time as you need until you are satisfied with your character’s appearance.

Customized wand cannot be changed.

Hogwarts Legacy - Wand Customization Guide 2

The wand you specify at Olivvanders near the start of the game cannot be changed afterwards. Features like wood type, wand style, wand length, and wand core do not affect the performance of your wand, though you will want to go through as many options as possible to receive the wand that best suits your taste.

Elder Wand

Hogwarts Legacy - Elder Wand

For avid fans of the Harry Potter novels, it is highly recommended to obtain the Elder Wand prior to starting a New Game as it is the most iconic wand to wield throughout the main story.

All Unforgivable Curses (Dark Arts spells) are missable.

Hogwarts Legacy - Dark Arts (Avada Kedavra)

Unforgivable Curses or Dark Arts spells are among the most powerful magic in the game and can only be learned by progressing through Sebastian Sallow‘s Relationship Line side quests. The Crucio, Imperio, and Avada Kedavra spells are all permanently missable if you answer with the wrong dialogue response when Sebastian offers to teach them to you.

Hogwarts Legacy How to Unlock All Unforgivable Curses (Dark Arts)

It is highly recommended to learn all Unforgivable Curses regardless of the House you chose. Avada Kedavra, the strongest Dark Arts spell in the game, is capable of killing targets instantly, allowing you to end encounters in seconds.

Note that you do not need to learn any of the Unforgivable Curses to unlock the Spell Master (Silver trophy) achievement. You will still earn the trophy if you decide to roleplay through the game in complete opposition to the Dark Arts.

Map Chamber Achievements

You can only unlock one Map Chamber achievement per playthrough.

The Map Chamber trophies are a set of achievements that can only be obtained if you create four different characters belonging to different houses. The reason for this is that there is a unique Map Chamber trophy for finding the Map Chamber as a student of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff House.

Achievement Trophy How to Unlock
The Gryffindor in the Graveyard PlayStation 4 - Bronze TrophyBronze Find the Map Chamber as a Gryffindor.
The Toast of the Town PlayStation 4 - Bronze TrophyBronze Find the Map Chamber as a Slytherin.
The Wise Owl PlayStation 4 - Bronze TrophyBronze Find the Map Chamber as a Ravenclaw.
The Auror’s Apprentice PlayStation 4 - Bronze TrophyBronze Find the Map Chamber as a Hufflepuff.

The different Map Chamber achievements so far are the only reason to play through the game at least four times using different characters to achieve 100% completion (Platinum trophy).

The type of normal ending you choose cannot be changed.

The dialogue choices made during the main quest The Final Repository will determine the type of normal ending you will get. Once you have locked in your replies during the dialogue with Professor Fig, you will no longer be able to change it to get a different ending.
