Upon starting a New Game in Hogwarts Legacy, you will need to create your own character through the Character Creation menu. Below is a guide on the different customization options you can access in the beginning of your journey through the wizarding world.

Character physical features are permanent.

The physical features of your character cannot be changed after you leave the Character Creation screen. Because of this, spend as much time as you want making a character that best suits your preferences or that which represents your real-world self the most accurately.

Presets

The Presets tab lets you choose from a number of different pre-made character models to serve as your character’s template. Afterwards, you will be able to make fine adjustments to several physical features like face shape, skin color, eye color, voice, and gender.

Note that Presets also have different types of clothing so choose a pre-made template with a style that suits your preferences.

Facewear (Face Shape, Skin Color, and Glasses)

The Facewear tab is where you can select your avatar’s face shape. Character skin color can also be set by moving the slider left or right. There is also an option to have your character wear glasses (or none if you want).

The Complexion tab contains options to add more unique features such as freckles, moles, scars, and markings to your character’s face. These allow you to apply certain imperfections and blemishes to make your avatar look more unique if you want to.

Eyebrows (Eye Color, Eyebrow Color, Eye Shape)

The Eyebrows tab lets you choose your character’s eye and eyebrow colors, and eye shape. This tab even makes it possible to have your avatar’s hair color not match with their eyebrow color.

Finalize Your Character (Voice, Game Difficulty, Character Name, and Dormitory)

The Finalize Your Character tab contains the last set of options you need to set before beginning your journey in the wizarding world. Here, you can select your character’s voice tone and pitch and game difficulty (Story, Easy, Norma, or Hard). You will also need to enter your character’s first and last name.

Lastly, you must decide if your character belongs to the Witch or Wizard dormitory (gender). Be warned that choosing a different dormitory will reset the fine adjustments you made for your character so try to avoid changing this setting as much as possible.

Select “Start Your Journey” to begin the game.

Once you are satisfied with your created character, choose “Start Your Journey” to begin the main story where you can choose to be sorted into Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff through the Sorting Hat ceremony.
