Hogwarts Legacy features four (4) types of game difficulty modes that you can choose to play on based on your preferences. The difficulty can be chosen once you have started the game and made it into the Character Customization. Before starting of into your journey, you will encounter an option where you can choose and select your difficulty.

Hogwarts Legacy Character Creation Guide

Difficulty can be changed at any time.

You can adjust the difficulty at any time from the game’s Gameplay Options in the Settings menu to suit your preferences. Because of this, you can choose any difficulty mode at the start of the game and freely play on higher or lower settings as you go through the various story chapters.

Difficulty Mode Details
STORY A focus on story with minimal gameplay.
EASY A light gameplay challenge.
NORMAL A balanced gameplay challenge.
HARD A demanding gameplay challenge.

Which Difficulty Should You Start With?

Choose Normal difficulty when playing for the first time.

For starters, it is generally recommended for beginners and even those with little to no experience with action games to play on Normal difficulty. It allows you to experience the standard level of exploration and combat throughout the main story.

How Long to Beat the Game

Choose Story difficulty to enjoy the plot.

By selecting this difficulty, you will get to experience a gameplay where it focus on the story. Players get to enjoy the plot without thinking too much of the game’s challenges.

    Games are played for the gameplay, not the story. Where is the fun in a game where you can curbstomp everything?

    Looking at the gameplay footage, even hard will probably be way too easy.
