Choose the House that you like.

When playing through the main story of Hogwarts Legacy for the fist time, it is generally recommended to simply choose the House that you like the most.

Hogwarts Legacy - Game Overview 1

There are a number of factors that may affect your decision whether or not you are a fan of the Harry Potter media franchise. Below are some things to consider that may help you pick a House at the start of the game. In the end, the best House is the one you have the most fun in during the main story.

You cannot change Houses after the Sorting Hat Ceremony.

Note that the House you choose to be sorted into during the Sorting Hat Ceremony is permanent. You will need to restart the main story or create a different character if you want to play through the game in a different House.

Hogwarts Legacy Permanent Events and Missable Features Guide

You can up to four (4) different characters that can join each House.

Since the game gives you a total of four (4) character slots, you can play through the main story at least four times using a character from a different House. Doing so lets you avoid missing out on any story events, quests, and content that are only accessible to Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff.

Choose the House that best reflects your personality and the traits you value in real life.

Another good way to select your House is to think of the character traits that you consider the most important in the real world. Below is a summary of the primary traits valued by each House to help you choose which one best represents yourself.

Hogwarts House Valued Traits
Gryffindor Courage, strength of heart, and chivalry.
Sytherin Ambition,  cunning, and resourcefulness.
Ravenclaw Wisdom, wit, and creativity.
Hufflepuff Diligence, fair play, and loyalty.

Choose the House where your favorite Harry Potter characters belong to in the novels.

You can also decide which House to join based on your favorite characters in the Wizarding World. Below are some of the most popular characters in the franchise and the Houses they were sorted into during their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Bear in mind that you will not actually be able to meet these characters in the game. Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the 1800 which is several years before the original Harry Potter story series.
