Chapter 12 Walkthrough Summary
Costa del Sol – Gold Saucer Part 1
| 1 | While piloting the Tiny Bronco in the river, head forward to Costa del Sol. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Upon reaching Costa del Sol, feel free to do any remaining side quests, World Intel objectives, and other optional activities you want before proceeding further with the main story. Heading to Gold Saucer will lock you out from doing any completion-related content for a while. |
| 3 | When you are ready, head to Gold Saucer. Then, head to Chocobo Square and talk to Red XIII. |
| 4 | Go to Speed Square and talk to Cid. |
| 5 | Head to Event Square and talk to Barret. |
| 6 | Go to Ghost Square and talk to Vincent. |
| 7 | Head to Event Square and talk to Yuffie. You can also increase your relationship level with her if you beat her in 3D Brawler. |
| 8 | Go to Skywheel Square and talk to Tifa. |
| 9 | After talking to all other party members, go to Battle Square and talk to Aerith. |
| 10 | Follow Aerith into the arena. |
| 11 | After the cutscene, go back to the hotel. Before agreeing to rest, you can try doing any remaining side quests to increase your relationship with characters as your date in the upcoming event at the Skywheel will depend on the character you have the strongest bond with (Skywheel Date Guide). |

| 1 | When you gain control of Zack, go upstairs. |

Gold Saucer Part 2
| 1 | Once you are in control of Cloud again, open the door. |
|---|---|
| 2 | Go with your ally (the one you have the highest relationship with) to Event Square to begin the Loveless theater mini game. Note that the female party member that you have the highest relationship with will also be playing Rosa in the mini game. |
| 3 | The Loveless stage play mini game is a QTE section that simply requires you to press specific buttons as they appear on the screen. Getting an S rank will increase your relationship with all characters and will affect the Skywheel date scene that occurs after the mini game. |
| 4 | After clearing Loveless section, head to Skywheel Square to view the dating scene. |
| 5 | In the next day, talk to the receptionist at Musclehead Colosseum to begin the series of battles. Note that your party will consist of Cloud, the character you have the highest relationship with, and a third selectable one. |
| 6 | The colosseum battles require you to take down 3 waves of regular enemies before taking on 3 bosses. |
| 7 | The first wave of regular enemies are only Coreno Lackeys which can easily be dealt with usign Fire magic and abilities. |
| 8 | The second wave pits you against Cacneo which should not pose a threat since they mostly spend the fight avoiding you. |
| 9 | The third wave is made up of 2 Tonberrys and a Donberry. Just be mindful to dodge or run away when the Tonberrys use Chef’s Knife to avoid getting killed instantly. Take out the Tonberry’s first before focusing on the Donberry. |
| 10 | After taking down the regular enemies, you will be up against Don Corneo and Abzu. |
| 11 | Abzu is weak to fire to doublecasting fire if you have Aerith in the party is a good way to build up its stagger gauge. Alternatively, you can have Cloud attack with Firebolt Blade or Yuffie with Elemental Ninjutsu to do this as well.
Abzu will simply become more aggressive once you lower his HP to about half. Just pull back and heal if you get hit too often and keep pummeling the boss with Fire magic and stagger-building abilities to win the fight. |
| 12 | Rest to fully heal the party’s HP and MP. Then talk to Dio to begin the fight against Elena and Rude. |
| 13 | As usual, Rude and Elena will be weak to wind and lightning respectively so equip the necessary materia to be able to build their stagger gauge fast during the fight.
A good strategy against the pair is to focus on one of them at a time. Try taking out Rude first as he will constantly be in your face, making him a good target for spells and ranged attacks. Remember to setup Arcane Ward with Aerith again if she is in the party to maximize spell damage during the fight, especially when either of the two bosses are staggered. Once the bosses start using synergy attacks, unload on them with abilities to interrupt them. Save your Limit Breaks for when the bosses are staggered to close out the fight. |
| 14 | The last fight at the colosseum will be against Rufus. Note that you will only be able to use Cloud for this battle. |
| 15 | Rufus will constant perform a powerful counterattack when you try to wail on him. Because of this, only swing at him when he is reloading.
Rufus is not weak to any attribute but you can build up his stagger gauge fast by spending majority of the fight’s first phase by accumulating ATB and using Braver on him. When Rufus summons Darkstar, focus on the hound first as Rufus will be protected from attacks if you leave it alive. When Darkstar is down, continue pummeling Rufus with Braver and ending the fight using a Limit Break if it is available already. |
| 16 | After the battle, look for Cait Sith at the colosseum lobby. He will run away to the gift store so chase after him. |
| 17 | Approach the shelf displaying souvenirs to make Cait Sith run away again. |
| 18 | Head to the park by going through the path out of the colosseum. |
| 19 | Continue pursuing Cait Sith through the park and toward Event Square. Then, approach him as he is hiding behind his Moogle friend. |
| 20 | Follow Cait Sith again through the passage blocked by the barricade. Be sure to open the chest containing Crystalline Cross (Yuffie Weapon) before the stairs. |
| 21 | Continue up the stairs and follow the path to the helipad for a cutscene. |
| 22 | After the cutscene, go back to Costa del Sol and talk to Cid at the docks. |
