Below are the ways to save your game progress in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth), including information on the game’s autosave and manual save features and other useful information.
Ways to Save Your Progress
Autosave
The game’s autosave features automatically creates a save file of your current progress as certain points during the main story. Autosave usually happens after major story events and battles.
Do not close the game or turn of the PS5 console during autosave.
You will get a notice on the upper right corner of the screen when autosave is in progress. During this time, avoid closing the game or turning of your Playstation 5 (PS5) console to prevent loss of data or other possible errors.
Autosave has one dedicated slot for automatically creating backup files as you play through the main story. It will simply rewrite this file with the latest one and will never take up more available slots intended for manual saves.
Manual Save
It is also possible to manually save your progress outside of battle. Open the main menu by pressing the OPTIONS button and go to Save / Load. Then, go to Save and select the slot you want to create your new save data in.
As with autosave, be careful not to close the game or power off the PS5 during manual save to avoid losing game progress or encountering errors with your save file.

To easily save or load game progress from the main menu, simply press the △ button to immediately go to Save / Load.
Can You Turn Off Autosave in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth)?
Not possible in the game.
There is currently no way to turn of the game’s autosave feature at any point during play. The autosave file, however, will only use up and rewrite one slot throughout the game so you do not have to worry about running out of slots to save manually.
