Grasslands Region

What is Materia Development in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
A service offered by Chadley that lets you obtain various rare materia using accumulated data points (DP).
Materia Development is a service offered by Chadley in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FFF7 Rebirth). By spending data points (DP) you have accumulated from clearing World Intel-related activities in each region, you will be able to obtain new materia in the game.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Materia List and Locations
Some rare materia may only be acquired via Materia Development. Because of this, it is worth taking the time to talk to Chadley at various stages of the main story to see if any new materia is available.
How to Get Data Points (DP)
Rewarded for clearing Combat Assignments (Fiend Sightings)
Data points are rewarded for clearing various region-specific Combat Assignments (Fiend Sightings) which require you to defeat powerful variants of regular enemies roaming the map.
Because of this, try exploring each new region you visit thoroughly to avoid missing out on getting data points while progressing through the main story chapters.
Obtained for completing other World Intel-related objectives.
You are also likely to obtain data points for meeting certain objectives related to World Intel such as discovering new Areas of Interest and other special locations.
Data points rewarded is specific to each explorable region.
The data points you get for any of activities mentioned above can only be spent to develop materia of a corresponding region.
Fire and Ice materia, for instance, is only purchasable via Materia Development using data points acquired in the Junon region. Other maps in the game will have their own category of data points that can only be spent to get their own selection of materia.
