Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Mini Game List and Guides
How to Unlock Piano Mini Game
Unlocked by interacting with the piano in Tifa’s room in Nibelheim during The Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim.
To unlock the piano mini game, simply examine the piano at the Lockhart residence (Tifa’s house) during The Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim (prelude chapter). You will need to interact with the door to Tifa’s house and answer with “Yeah.” when Tifa asks you if you “went to her place.”
Dialogue 1 to Unlock Piano Mini Game
Dialogue | Choice | Effect |
---|---|---|
“You went to my place?” | “Yeah.” (Go inside Tifa’s house) | Lets you explore Tifa’s house and progress through the story (mandatory). Also lets you obtain the Sheet Music: Tifa’s Theme and unlocks the piano mini game. |
“… No?” (Do not go inside Tifa’s house) | None. Does not progress the story and prevents you from getting access to the piano in Tifa’s room and the Sheet Music: Tifa’s Theme. |
After going inside, head up to Tifa’s room on the 2F and examine the piano. Note that you will obtain the first piano Sheet Music: Tifa’s Theme after doing so.
Another dialogue event will trigger once you interact with the piano for the first time. Choose “Went to town on it.” when Tifa asks if you can play to begin the piano mini game tutorial.
Dialogue 2 to Unlock Piano Mini Game
Dialogue | Choice | Effect |
---|---|---|
“Did you actually play the piano?” | “Went to town on it.” (Play Tifa’s piano) | Lets you play the piano mini game and get Sheet Music: Tifa’s Theme. |
“I thought about it, but no.” (Do not play Tifa’s piano) | None. Prevents you from starting the piano mini game. |
Piano Mini Game Overview
Rhythm-Based Mini Game
The piano mini game is a rhythm game that you can play by interacting with any piano around the game world. To play pieces on the piano, you must collect key items called Sheet Music found all throughout the game’s main story chapters.
Find Sheet Music (key item) to play different songs.
Sheet Music contain pieces of iconic and fan-favorite music from the game. They will have different levels of difficulty, indicated by the star symbol when selecting a piece on the preparation screen.

Tilt the left and right analog sticks in the direction shown on the screen.
When playing, tilt the left and right analog sticks in the direction shown on the screen as they appear with the beat of the song. Each key you press is rated based on its timing.
After you are finished playing a piece, your final score is evaluated based on how well you timed each note. Keys you missed are also counted and are used to deduct from your final score.

Tips to Get High Scores in the Piano Mini Game
Practice songs to be able to memorize fast two-hand passages.
The hardest sections of each piece are usually those that require you to play different keys (directions) using both hands at fast speed. It is quite hard to nail these parts by reacting to them visually so try to practice songs over and over until you develop muscle memory to play specific complex passages without looking.
Do not rely on visual cues only.
As mentioned above, hard sequences of notes played using both hands are hard to follow by sight only. Try getting the beat down even when playing single notes as this will increase your chances of stringing together GREAT timing to keep long combos going.
Play pieces at slower speeds.
If you find a piece to fast even on its default tempo, feel free to lower it to its slowest possible speed. There are no penalties for doing this in the demo to get high scores, though this may change in the full game.
How to Get Star (★) Ranking in the Piano Mini Game
Reach the maximum combo count by hitting all GREAT for all notes.
In general, you will only get the star (★) rank for a particular piece by playing the song perfectly. This requires you to play all notes with GREAT timing and stringing together the maximum combo count for the piece. Dropping the combo by missing even one (1) note will automatically prevent you from getting the highest score for any song.
Piano Mini Game Scoring System and Ranks
Based on the song’s note count.
The points calculated for each correctly-timed note and each missed note are based on the piece’s note count. Note that the score required to get various ranks also changes depending on the piece played.
As an example, Tifa’s Theme has a total note count of 146. Playing a note perfectly during this piece rewards you with 100 points. The formula for the highest possible score to get the star (★) rank, therefore, is 100 x 146 and is equal to 14600.
Piano Mini Game Rewards
Currently no rewards in the demo.
There are currently no rewards obtained for getting high scores during the piano mini game on any speed in the demo. Because of this, you can simply play the only available piece (Tifa’s Theme) as a means to enjoy the fan-favorite song or challenge yourself by getting the highest possible score on its fastest tempo.
Gil (money) for playing all six (6) Piano Association Outreach songs well.
You will also be rewarded with Gil (money) for playing all Piano Association Outreach songs “well” in the full game. There are a total of six (6) of these special pieces to find and play, one of them being Tifa’s Theme itself.

Below are all trophies and achievements related to the piano mini game and how to unlock them during the game’s main story.
