Status Effects List and Guide for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth)
Below is a list of all positive (beneficial) and negative (detrimental) status effects in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth), including how to apply buffs and remove debuffs from allies, and how to view all status effects and their corresponding icons in battle.
Positive Status Effects (Buffs)
Status Effect | Description |
---|---|
Bravery | Increases attack power. |
Faith | Increase magic attack power. |
Protect | Increases defense. |
Shell | Increases magic defense. |
Barrier | Reduces physical damage taken. |
Manaward | Reduces magic damage taken. |
Shield | Nullifies physical damage taken. |
Reflect | Reflects magic spells. |
Haste | Quickens the rate at which the ATB gauge is filled. |
Resist | Prevents detrimental status effects. |
Regen | Gradually restores HP. |
Auto-Life | Revives target from incapacitation once during battle. |
Negative Status Effects (Status Ailments and Debuffs)
Status Effect | Description |
---|---|
Poison | Gradually saps HP. |
Silence | Unable to cast spells. |
Sleep | Unable to act. |
Slow | Decreases the rate at which the ATB gauge fills. |
Stop | Unable to act (remove with Esuna). |
Stun | Unable to act (remove with Esuna). |
Toad | Greatly lowers battle capabilities. |
Debrave | Reduces attack power. |
Defaith | Reduces magic attack power. |
Petrify | Slowly turn to stone (KO’d when fully petrified). |
Berserk | Increases damage dealt and received. |
Fury | Quickens limit break gauge charge, but become more vulnerable to damage. |
Sedate | Become less vulnerable to damage, but slows limit break gauge charge. |
How to Apply Positive Status Effects
Use magic materia.
Various magic materia can apply useful status effects on allies such as increased physical and magic attack and defense, increased ATB charge rate, gaining auto HP regeneration.
Below are some of the materia you can use to grant party members temporary buffs in battle.

Empowerment | Allows you to use physical and magic attack-strengthening spells. Pairing with warding materia grants resistance to physical and magic attack reduction. |

Equip accessories.
Many obtainable accessories grant buffs to their wearer in battle, making them among the most valuable pieces of gear to obtain throughout the game. Certain accessories can even provide characters resistances to certain negative status effects or even directly increase their stats and attributes.
Use abilities.
Unique abilities, synergy abilities, and even limit breaks can apply a variety of positive effects on the user as well as their allies. Most of these moves deal physical or magic damage to enemies as well, making them extremely useful against different situations in battle.
Use items.
A few consumable items also temporarily bestow buffs on party members when used in battle. Such tools are handy especially against tough encounters where your party will need all the help they can get to win.
How to Remove Negative Status Effects
Use magic materia.
As with applying positive status effects, curing allies of various status ailments can be done using the Cleansing magic materia. At max level (★3), Cleansing materia will allow a character to apply Resist which gives party members complete immunity to most negative status conditions for a fixed duration.

Below are some items that can remove negative status effects and ailments inflicted on party members.
Item | Effect |

Antidote | Removes Poison. |
Maiden’s Kiss | Removes Toad. |
Smelling Salts | Removes Sleep |
Echo Mist | Removes Silence. |
Adrenaline | Removes Sedate. |
Remedy | Removes all negative status effects. |
Rest at benches or inns.
All negative status effects and ailments are also removed from all party members whenever you rest at a bench or inn.
How to View the List of Status Effect in Battle
Press the touchpad and then L1.
To view a list of all status effects and their corresponding icons while in combat, simply press the touchpad. Then, press L1 to display all status effects.
