Merlin Trials are a set of optional puzzle challenges in Hogwarts Legacy that are found all throughout the various regions of the open world.

Merlin Trials Rewards
Additional Gear Storage Space (Gear Slots)
Clearing a specific number of Merlin Trials rewards you with extra gear storage space (gear slots) which essentially allows you to hold more pieces of equipment in your inventory at any time. You can claim rewards for solving Merlin Trials at the Challenges tab of the game menu.
As you go around clearing quests, Challenges, and other optional content, you will obtain a good amount of gear so having as much inventory space as possible is recommended.
