List of Mounts [Horizon Zero Dawn]

Detailed Guide on Mounts in Horizon Zero Dawn. We will be updating this as we go along.

Mounts

Mounts in Horizon Zero Dawn often come from enemies that you can override. These creatures are formerly enemies. However, Aloy’s override ability allows her to convert her enemies into her allies. However, not all of them are mountable similarly to the Tallnecks and Watchers. Thus, allowing her to ride them and go through the areas easily.

mounts

Having a mount is useful. In the large world and universe of Horizon Zero Dawn, having a mount can get you anywhere in a shorter amount of time. Thus, roaming and grinding through the open world of Horizon Zero Dawn won’t trouble you as much as it normally would.

Each mount also has its own special ability to get you around. They can also attack other enemies while your on them. While riding the mount, you also increase your ability to dodge due to increased speed. However, it’s important also take note that your mounts may have a durability limit. Evade and use your mount carefully in order to survive through the open world of Horizon Zero Dawn.

  1. Omni again..wow are you sadly so miss informed. you also miss R2 – is a fast spin 180 …like a fast reverse so you can then R1 hoof strike attack or so. Secondly you can only have 3 mounts, stryder, broad head, then charger. They are all from the first PSI cauldron so after you get the womb of the mount chain done and attack your first corrupter THEN you use the loot from the corrupter and attach it to your spear…THEN it unlocks the overriding/override to mount ability. Yes you need the other cauldrons to over ride other machines, but none of the 3 riders as they are from the default PSI cauldron you auto get when you attack the overrider to your spear.

so in short, add the R2 mount controller, and distinguish between over ride and mountable, and then correct your page to only show the 3 mounts……as a whole your entire page was also written 10 days BEFORE the game was even released…. at least you can do is correct it now…please….

yes i am level 23 out of the 50 levels, and in game stats show i have finished only 33% of the game…BUT I have scanned 22 out of the 26 machines in the game…with the last four not even being mountable types or over ridden as corrupted machines can not even be over ridden at all…so yeah I can verify those ARE the only 3.

    • Hi Anthony! There are times that the override can fail. This happens also with Glinthawks. 🙂 But we’ll check again! Thanks for letting us know. 🙂

      • Omni is correct:
        – You can override most machines, but you can only mount 3 of them.
        – And mounts have a light and a heavy attack, in a similar way that Aloy has a light and a heavy attack…
