Main Quest Walkthrough – Revenge of the Nora
Objective 3: Infiltrate the Metal Ring with Varl
Follow Varl to the Metal Ring, base of the killers. You will reach a dead end; help Varl up, then he will help you climb. Once inside, he will instruct you which enemies to take out. Do as he says, then drop down to take out any enemies left.
The two of you will come across a couple of cultists standing around; you will take one down, while Varl take out the other. Climb a nearby ledge with him, and a cutscene plays, showing a massive stockpile of Blaze guarded by several Corruptors. Varl and Aloy talk strategy for a bit, then she drops down to the area below.
The main thing to worry about in this area are the Corrupted Fire Bellowbacks. The area has a lot of tall grass to hide in though, so take advantage of that. Kill any thugs that are in the area by baiting them, then hitting them with a surprise attack.
Move towards the palisade off to your left, but keep out of sight of the machine and of enemy troops by keeping inside the trench running alongside it. Go past the watery pit until you reach the inner area, where the tower-like structure is being built. Go into the long grass around the structure, then lure enemies into an ambush. Corrupted Watchers may also be patrolling the inner area.
You should see another patch of tall grass to your right; enter that, then inch forward until you can make out a stockpile of Blaze in the distance. Aloy will drop a hint if you are in the right position. Equip a fire arrow, and shoot at the stockpile. Do it correctly, and the place should erupt into flames.
Objective 4: Kill the Cultists and Machines
Varl’s braves will charge into the ruins of the Metal Ring as the enemies are in disarray. It’s now time to take out as many as you can. The braves will provide enough backup, fortunately. Find a safe spot, then snipe out the opposition.
When the braves have killed most of the cultists, it’s time to face the Corrupted Fire Bellowback. A quick look with Focus should reveal the Machine’s weak points as well as its strong ones: the beast’s body is impervious to fire, but its gullet, cargo sac and blaze canister are weak to it.
Lay down some Shock Wires if you have some to make the Machine expose the Blaze canister on its underside. Once that happens, hit it with a fire arrow to make the Machine explode. It isn’t as easy as it seems, though, as the Corrupted Fire Bellowback will be able to put up a serious fight with its fire blast. Dodge away if you see the Machine getting ready to spit fire, as it deals severe damage to your health. The mission ends with the destruction of the Corrupted Fire Bellowback.
