Super Mario Odyssey Playable Demo Reported at Best Buy
There’s already a hefty amount of gameplay information and footage about the Nintendo Switch’s first “true” Mario game as the Super Mario Odyssey release date draws ever closer (October 27, 2017). Despite this, only a handful of people have taken a crack at the game’s playable demo at special trade venues like E3, EGX and PAX West. Those not so lucky to get passes in those events may have their hope renewed with news surfacing that a Super Mario Odyssey playable demo is available at Best Buy kiosks.
A poster on NeoGAF only recently shared that a local Best Buy store’s demo kiosks have been updated with a Super Mario Odyssey playable demo. Click here for the original post.
The poster, bulletbill10, says “You get to play in Tostareena (the desert/ice level), and appear to have pretty much free reign of the level. I’m pretty sure it is on a timer, maybe 5 minutes? If not there is a proximity end screen when you approach the final boss that I happened to trigger at an awkward time.”
Five minutes may seem like a blitz, but considering that this might be our only chance to get our hands on the Super Mario playable demo outside exclusive events is insane. The poster goes on to add more of his experience with the game.

“Other than looking great, I don’t personally have much for impressions to add that isn’t already around in other threads. I played with split joycons, but the set up makes it hard at Best Buy as they are tethered and it makes them twist awkwardly in your hands. I advise using the other controller scheme’s if available.”
There’s yet to be more information if Nintendo did indeed launch the Super Mario Odyssey playable demo at Best Buy kiosks at this time. It doesn’t hurt to drop by at a local store near you for a chance to try the game before it hits the shelves this month.
