What is the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Game Overview Banner

A sequel to one of the most acclaimed open-world’s adventure titles.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the long-awaited sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one of the most acclaimed open-world adventure titles which continues to draw in new players even after several years since its release.

The iconic hero Link returns as the main character of this follow-up entry.

In a world where Ganondorf has been resurrected, Link sets out on an adventure to search for the captured Zelda and to stop Ganondorf’s schemes.

Explore floating islands and underground caves.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - New Locations

The setting of Tears of the Kingdom is still Hyrule as with the previous game.

The open world exploration area has been further expanded in the sequel. In addition to areas on land, a group of islands floating in the sky and an underground cave with a depth of 500m have been included in the places that can be explored in the game.

Create a wide variety of weapons and items by crafting.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Fuse

In Tears of the Kingdom, a new crafting system called Fuse has been added, allowing you to create new equipment by combining materials found in the field.

Fusing was designed to make the adventure easier for people who are not good at action games by letting players make spears and powerful hammers that can hit enemies far away from safe distances.

Other New Elements

There are various other new elements and features added to the game besides Fuse.

Ultrahand

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Ultrahand

The Ultrahand is a game mechanic that enables you to create useful objects such as vehicles and bridges by combining materials you find in the field. By making a motor and attaching it to a log, it is possible to make a simple boat that can cross rivers. You can also build a robot you can ride on or put together a rocket that can fly.

Recall

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Recall

Recall allows you to reverse time for various objects. For example, you can use Recall on a rock that had fallen from the sky and trigger the event in reverse. Doing so will cause the rock to return to the sky.

Ascend

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Ascend

Ascend is another new mechanic that allows you to pass through roofs or ceilings. Because of this, there are basically no vertical enclosures that Link cannot passed through, such as those found in shrines or in caves.

Can you go on adventures with your friends?

In Tears of the Kingdom, there is a high possibility that you can go on an adventure with NPCs. Throughout the Zelda series, the prospect of adventure alone is exciting. In this latest entry, however, it seems that you can battle enemies alongside allies like Sidon and Riju.
