This section provides the basic recommended starting skills in Horizon Zero Dawn. It emphasizes on the strengths of each skill and draws out the similarities among them depending on the build desired.
Recommended Starting Skills
Aloy receives Skill Points as early as the first two Main Missions: A Gift from the Past, and Lessons from the Wild. It is advised to invest these on the following Skills as it builds upon a well-balanced combination of stealth mastery, resource conservation, and threat minimization. Depending on the build desired, invest skills based on your preferred play style.
Silent Strike
Main article: Prowler Skills
A sneaky tactic that inflicts a deadly blow on a small oblivious machine or human. It deals heavy damage to moderate sized ones and helps preserve arrows.
Concentration
Main article: Brave Skills
This Skill provides a solid foundation for building up on combat-related Skills as it buys time for Aloy to land a Tearblast arrow on specific components to deal tremendous damage.
Silent Drop
At the expense of a measly Skill Point, it minimizes the chance of detection as it grants Aloy the chance to drop off from a moderately high platform with ease. Highly recommended for those who prefer to maximize stealth-based tactics.
Critical Hit
A devastating strike that tends to eliminate a small downed machine or human. It eases navigation during the initial stage where the gigantic machines are less likely to appear.
Lure Call
Main article: Forager Skills
Best paired with Silent Strike, Lure Call is an essential Stealth Skill. At the cost of 1 Skill Point, not only does this save some ammunition but it also engages Aloy in combat with a lone machine. This enables her to aggro one at a time to safely take on an entire battalion.
