Elden Ring will feature open-world gameplay, setting itself apart from past titles in FromSoftware’s library. Despite this, Miyazaki has stated that the game “is a FromSoftware title through and through”.

The game’s trailer stays true to FromSoftware’s tradition of cryptic storytelling, with mention of a ring that “could command the stars” and “giving life its fullest brilliance”.

Characters shown in the trailer included one who appears to be a red-haired valkyrie, a blacksmith who presumably forged the mythical ring, and a hulking armored warrior wreathed in flames. The design of the characters hints at Norse mythology, which may be the game’s inspiration.

Elden Ring will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows on an unspecified date.
