New IP titled “GhostWire: Tokyo”

We do not know much about GhostWire: Tokyo yet. Its trailer seems to parallel Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding with an interesting cinematic despite remaining shrouded in mystery with unnamed characters and unidentified villains. The game puts emphasis on Japanese themes, evident in the intro where citizens go about their daily lives in a bustling city. Fast forward and we see a rapture take place and wipe out half of the population, leaving the rest searching for answers. Later, we see the silhouette of a man who seems to be armed with a bow. Later, several figures emerge from the shadows. We don’t know who this man is or what his intentions are, but he seems to be the game’s protagonist.

Brought by Tango Gameworks

Founded in 2010 by Mr. Shinji Mikami, Tango Gameworks has worked on survival horror titles with immersive atmospheres. Mr. Mikami has a long history with Capcom, the company behind some of the first few survival horror titles like Resident Evil and Dino Crisis.

What this might mean

Horror seems to be a prevailing theme with Bethesda’s Tango Gameworks lineup, which can be seen through the trailer’s aesthetics. While the trailer has multiple horror elements, Bethesda made a tweet confirming that GhostWire: Tokyo is an action-adventure game.

While the game looks promising, it remains to be seen which platforms it will be released on and its release date.
