A playable demo for the Square Enix’s upcoming sandbox role-playing game Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be available for download on June 27. This was confirmed in the game’s trailer shown at E3 2019. The game will be released on July 12.

The game follows the story of a young builder with a knack for adventuring. The hero is captured by a malevolent group called the Children of Hargon who are bent on eliminating all builders in the game’s world. The hero escapes and makes it to the Isle of Awakening where they begin their quest to become a full-fledged builder.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 retains the highly-flexible building system found in the first game, allowing players to construct buildings, tools, and even vehicles on the Isle of Awakening.

Players will encounter a multitude of monsters from the Dragon Quest universe on their adventures. Materials obtained from defeating enemies, completing quests, and those gathered from the environment can be crafted into better tools, weapons, and armor.

New features to be introduced in the sequel include the ability to fly and swim underwater. These add even more dimension to the game, as certain materials and items can only be found high up in the mountains or in aquatic locations.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 will also have a unique co-op mode with up to four players online. While the first game was purely single-player, its sequel encourages players to go on adventures or construct buildings with friends.
