Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will be released on September 6, 2019 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Ahead of its launch, the game’s new home base for hunters has been revealed.

In an effort to conduct research in the unexplored Hoarfrost Reach, the Commission set up a headquarters on the snowy island. Facilities there are similar to those in the original home base of Astera. The new headquarters is named Seliana, as shown in the game’s trailer and official website.

Seliana is powered entirely by steam from burning fuel at the base’s Steamworks facility, a new area of the base. Without fuel, none of Seliana’s other facilities could operate.

Hunters must gather fuel by completing quests in Hoarfrost Reach or by exchanging items and ore. Offering fuel at the Steamworks also allows players to access a mini-game. The challenge requires players to correctly guess button combinations on the Steamworks machine. Special rewards can be obtained based on how well players perform the mini-game.

Most of Astera’s scholars and artisans have also moved to Seliana to run their respective facilities. Among these include the ecological research center, the smithy, the elder melder’s pot, and the provisions center.

A few convenient changes have also been implemented in Seliana. The first is the addition of the Tailraider Safari booth outside the player’s room. Sending a group of Tailraiders on quests to gather special materials will be more convenient because of this.

Another is the placement of the Palico’s equipment box next to the player’s item box. In the original game, the Palico’s equipment could only be managed from the player’s room. This change will make changing the player’s equipment and that of their felyne companion easier.
