How to Upgrade Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to improve their damage, stability, capacity, and other features at a workbench. This becomes increasingly important as you go further into the main story against tougher human and infected enemies.

Best Weapon Upgrades

To upgrade your weapons, you must have access to workbench which are found all throughout the game world. Press the △ button to use it.

Using the workbench opens up the weapon upgrade menu. Choose a weapon that you wish to upgrade from your current loadout and press the × button to view its available upgrades.

Select an enhancement to apply to your selected weapon. Note that you must have the necessary amount of parts to do so, indicated on the upper right corner of the upgrade menu.

Press the × button to craft the upgrade and automatically attach it to your selected weapon.

How to Obtain Parts

Parts can usually be scavenged from toolboxes as you explore the game world. Be sure to inspect the various areas of the game to gather as many parts as you can.
