Chapter 11: Lanayru Sand Sea Walkthrough
Lanayru Desert (Silent Realm)
1 | Use the Bird Statue to travel to the Isle of Songs in Thunderhead. |
---|---|
2 | Go in the small hole. Afterwards, do a skyward strike on the emblem to learn Nayru’s Wisdom harp song. |
3 | Afterwards, travel to Lanayru Desert. |
4 | From the North Desert Bird Statue, go north to find the entrance to the Silent Realm. Feel free to use dowsing if you have trouble finding it. |
5 | Play Nayru’s Wisdom and thrust your sword on the ground. |
6 | Enter the Silent Realm. |
7 | As with previous Silent Realm runs, you will need to collect 15 Tears of Nayru around the area. |
8 | Try to avoid the quicksand on the ground and use the Light Fruit to help you find the remaining tears in the area. |
9 | Dusk Relics can also be collected around the Silent Realm so try to get as many as you can during the run. |
10 | After collecting all of the tears, you will get Clawshots x1 that act as a sort of grappling hook. This will help you move around the desert more easily and get to hard-to-reach areas for items. |
Collecting Items Using the Clawshots (Treasure Chest, Goddess Cubes, and Goddess Chests)
1 | Once you have the Clawshots, go west from the area where you reached the Silent Realm. Use the Clawshots on the upper platform marked by the target to get a Dusk Relic x1 inside the chest. |
---|---|
2 | Move to the Desert’s northeast section. From your map, follow the narrow patch of land through the secret passage northeast (use a bomb if you have not opened it up yet). |
3 | Open the treasure chest along the path to get Heart Piece x1. Then, latch onto the Clawshot targets which will lead you to a Goddess Cube. |
4 | To the southwest of the Lanayru Mining Facility is another Goddess Cube up on a ledge you can reach using the Clawshot. |
5 | Feel free to travel to Floria Waterfall to find another Clawshots latch point to find another Goddess Cube there. |
6 | From here, travel to small island north of the Skyloft waterfall. Clawshot your way to the top of the waterfall and drop down to reach the island. The Goddess Chest there contains a Gold Rupee. |
7 | Head west from Beedle Island to find another island where a Goddess Chest can be found. When you arrive on the lower section of the island, go into the water and swim towards the chest. Do a dash jump out to the chest to get a Heart Medal x1. |
8 | Go to the small island northwest of Fun Fun Island. Climb down the vines to the bottom of the island to find a Goddess Chest with Life Medal x1. |
Before Heading to Lanayru Sand Sea
1 | You can return to Skyloft to do some side quests that are available at nighttime after clearing the Ancient Cistern. Talk to Fledge at his room to begin Fledge’s Workout (Part 2). You can also do talk to Luv (the owner of the potion shop) at her house at the east section of Skyloft to start the Missing Rattle. Lastly, if you talked to Peatrice several times at the Bazaar, you can begin the Item Check Crush side quest if you talk to her at her house (also at the east section of Skyloft) at night. |
---|---|
2 | If you have been collecting Gratitude Crystals at this point, you can obtain three more at this time. |
3 | Head to the top of the waterfall in Skyloft using the Clawshots to a Gratitude Crystal. |
4 | Another Gratitude Crystal can be found in Zelda’s room at the Knight Academy. Go to the roof and use aim for the latch point on the chimney to drop down. Follow the passageway to find the crystal in Zelda’s room. Her dresser also contains a Heart Piece x1. |
5 | Go to Beedle’s Island at night. To reach the area, sleep in the bed inside Beedle’s Air Shop and leave at night to find yourself on the island. Check above the shop’s propellers to find the crystal and use the Beetle to reach it. |
6 | Visit Batreaux at his house to get Giant Wallet x1 for collecting 50 Gratitude Crystals. |
7 | Travel to the Lanayru Desert (West Desert Bird Statue) to reach Lanayru Caves. |
Lanayru Caves
1 | When you arrive at the West Desert, head for the location marked with “?” on the map. |
---|---|
2 | Use your Clawshots to reach the caves. |
3 | Move forward toward the butterflies and play the harp to find the Gossip Stone while getting an Evil Crystal as well. |
4 | The treasure chest nearby contains Monster Horn x1 so open it as well. |
5 | To open the door to the west, talk to Golo the Goron. After getting the Small Key x1, head to the locked door using the Clawshots to reach Lanayru Sand Sea. |
Lanayru Sand Sea
1 | Move up the series of pillars using the Clawshots. |
---|---|
2 | When you arrive at the western section of the area, go north and Clawshot on the latch point above the boxes. |
3 | Go inside the cave and take out the Aracaha in the room. You will also find a Goddess Cube inside. |
4 | Afterwards, move west to find a Bird Statue. Use it and continue to find an old boat and an ancient robot. Hit the timeshift stone on the boat. This will wake the robot and make a water pool underneath. |
5 | After talking to the robot captain, you need to head to Skipper’s Retreat which is marked with an “X” on the map. |
6 | Head to Skipper’s Retreat. |
Skipper’s Retreat
1 | Use the Bird Statue when you arrive at Skipper’s Retreat. Then, follow the path on the right and take out the Electro Spumes using bombs. |
---|---|
2 | Go up the upper pillar using the Clawshots and take out the enemies there. |
3 | Move north and Clawshot above over the Peahat. Clawshot again while hanging from the Peahat to the next pillar. |
4 | Take out the Yellow ChuChu. Afterwards, destroy the boulder using a bomb and go inside the cave. |
5 | Deal with another Yellow ChuChu through the cave and Clawshot to the Peahat until you reach the upper platform. |
6 | Avoid the Metal Shield Moblin for now by jumping over him and move ahead to deal with the Quadro Baba. Open the chest for some Rupees. |
7 | Clawshot to the southwest pillar and manage your way around it. Grapple to the next pillar and climb up to the Goddess Cube. |
8 | Head back across the two pillars. Once you are at the spot where you took out the Quadra Baba, move north and Clawshot to the latch point ahead. |
9 | Take out the Furnix using your whip follow by slashes. |
10 | Walk west and pull the odd-looking plant from the ground using your whip. Then, Clawshot toward the Peahat that appears in the air and ride it north. |
11 | Clawshot to the next latch point. From there, go up to the top of the pillar to find another latch point far ahead. Fly your beetle to take out the Deku Baba above the ceiling before using the Clawshots to reach the next latch point. |
12 | Make your way up to the upper pillar and take out the enemies there. |
13 | Clawshot to the nearby Peahat. Afterwards, you will need to carefully time your Clawshot to the next Peahat moving near the large rock. Clawshot your way until you reach the Skipper’s room. |
14 | Head left after clearing the dust in the room to find a chest that has Ancient Sea Chart x1. Feel free to heal yourself by sitting at the stool in the middle of the room. |
15 | Go out and climb up to the top of the building. The Sand Cicadas found here can be caught using your net. |
16 | Move west and use the zipline at the end of the cliff to reach the pillar below. Do this until you reach the very bottom of the area. |
17 | Talk to the robot and sail to the Shipyard marked with “X”. Be sure to avoid the explosive barrels scattered throughout around the path. Ignore the enemies along the way as well. |
Shipyard
1 | After docking at the Shipyard, go forward and use the Bird Statue. Then, go right and take out the two Lizalfos. |
---|---|
2 | Head inside the mine cart building and talk to the Goron there. Afterwards, read the instructions on the wall to learn the controls for the mine cart. |
3 | Try to ride the cart slowly here for a safer ride. Get off at the next area and go up the steps. |
4 | Ignore the zipline and move right to find another mine cart to ride. |
5 | Note that the next mine cart course has broken tracks that you need to jump over so getting some good speed is required. Turn right at the first and second forks you come across. Make a left at the third fork and a right at the fourth. |
6 | At the last fork, feel free to go left or right. As you approach the end of the course, be ready to jump over a couple of gaps. |
7 | After getting off the mine cart, save at the Bird Statue. Afterwards, go through the door to reach the Shipyard Construction Bay. |
8 | Jump down into the sand and prepare to battle Moldarach. He is not much different from when you fought him at the Lanayru Mining Facility so the same strategies apply here. |
9 | After defeating Moldarach, head out the door and back to the ship. |
10 | Sail to the Pirate Stronghold by following the marked destination on the map. |
Pirate Stronghold – Finding the Sandship
1 | Save at the Bird Statue upon arriving at the Pirate Stronghold. |
---|---|
2 | Follow the path on the right and enter the door. |
3 | In the next room, move to the door at the back-right. Blow the sand away using the Gust Bellows and take out the Lizalfos ahead. |
4 | Follow the hallway down and take out the Electro Spume. Afterwards, head for the door across the sand. |
5 | Get the Timeshift Orb along the hallway and carry it forward to open the doorway. |
6 | Resume following the path until two Technoblins appear. Take them out and head for the next door. |
7 | Deal with the Beamos in the next room. Afterwards, pick up the orb again to the next room with a treasure chest ahead. |
8 | Before approaching the chest, drop the orb so that the electrical spark that will block your way does not activate. Open the chest to get Silver Rupee x1. |
9 | Grab the orb again and move to the next room. Then, get some Ancient Flowers. To cross the quicksand, you need to be carrying the orb (otherwise, you will sink). |
10 | Move left up the ramp while carrying the orb. Then, cross the series of platforms to reach the door to the northeast. |
11 | In the next area, you will notice a gate blocking the path. There is also an electrical spark that will activate if you go left while holding the orb. |
12 | Let go of the orb and move around to the corner toward the lever. Jump up and pull it to open the gate. |
13 | Grab the orb again and follow the opened path. |
14 | In the next room are some Deku Babas and a treasure chest at the corner. Approach the chest just a few steps forward and drop it so that the pillars that will block your path to the chest do not activate. |
15 | Grab Evil Crystal from the chest and pick up the orb again to the next room. |
16 | When you come to the three Deku Babas, roll a bomb toward one of them to make it eat it. When the Deku Baba explodes, it will also kill the two near it. |
17 | Move ahead and take out Technoblin and Deku Babas and head to the next area. More enemies wait here so deal with them as well. Afterwards, go southwest. |
18 | Carry the orb and drop it outside the small room to avoid activating the electrical charges. |
19 | Position the block by pulling it on the switch on the floor. When the gates in the room change, head out and pick up the orb again. |
20 | Carry the orb to the next room. |
21 | The adjacent room has two Beamos that you need to deal with. Afterwards, go northwest and set the orb down on the corner. |
22 | Backtrack to the previous room and go west through the door. The orb should activate the lever nearby. |
23 | Go down to the lever and pull it to open the gate. Head back and grab the orb again and go through the opened gate. |
24 | The chest in the room has a Monster Horn x1 so open it after entering. Walk slowly toward the corner of the room while carrying the orb so that only one of two Armos will activate at a time. Take out all two of them to open the gate. |
25 | Bring the orb and set it on the holder of the room. Move through the door afterwards and Clawshot up the latch point above the door. |
26 | Move through the latch points to reach a Goddess Cube. |
27 | Head back to the boat. Then, talk to the robot to set sail again to find the Sandship. |
28 | Use dowsing and shooting with the cannon to help you track the location of the invisible Sandship. After you find its location, shoot it with bombs until it becomes fully visible. |
