Boss Strategy
To defeat Stalfos, observe the spots on his body that he is not protecting with his two swords. These are the points that you should attack to damage him.
Another strategy is to time a shield bash when you see him wind up for a strike. If you do interrupt him successfully, his arms will fall off which should give you a chance to unload on him with follow-up attacks.
You can also pick up the hearts on the side of the room if you take too much damage during the fight.
