Chapter 14: Fire Sanctuary Walkthrough
Fire Sanctuary – Part 1
1 | A peculiar greenery known as a Water Fruit hangs above the lava at the entrance of the Fire Sanctuary’s first room. |
---|---|
2 | When you hit it with the clawshots or the beetle, a water bulb will fall into the lava, forming a platform. |
3 | Before it collapses into the lava, quickly leap onto the platform and jump to the other side. |
4 | After crossing the first lava pit, look to your right for a Pink Fairy and several Arrows in the pots. |
5 | Hit the next Water Fruit above the lava river, then ride the platform to the right on the lava, which will not sink until it reaches the end of the river. |
6 | You can use the Bow to take out some Bokoblins who are shooting at you, or you can confront them head-on to get some more Arrows. |
7 | When you approach the end of the river, the platform will begin to dissolve, so leap off and continue up the stairs to find a Chest with a Small Key. |
8 | Rather than falling, use the Clawshots on the vines to cross the gap and grab some supplies in pots. |
9 | Guld, a new Mogma, will appear and tell you exactly what’s on his mind. |
10 | When he’s done speaking to you, use the small key to unlock the door and proceed to the next chamber. |
11 | You may save your progress at the bird statue and run towards the staircase afterwards. |
12 | Kill the Dark Keese and Bokoblins as you make your way down the stairs — if they strike you, you’ll be unable to use items or your Sword for a brief period. |
13 | After passing through the door, look to the left for a chest with a Red Rupee inside. |
14 | Continue straight until you reach an entrance leading to a fiery room resembling an arena. |
15 | Jump down and onto the lava slab that has cooled. Magmanos, a huge lava hand roaming the room, will follow you into the lava beneath the floor. |
16 | At this moment, you can’t attack the Magmanos (you need water to hurt it). As you stand on the tiny platform, the Magmanos will unintentionally lift the platform in an attempt to assault you. |
17 | You can then jump onto the nearest ledge once you’re in the air. Kill the Bokoblin with your bow, then cross the vines to the south to reach the platform. |
18 | After saving at the Bird Statue, drop down and enter the door to the west. |
19 | The door will close behind you, and you’ll be confronted with a Dark Lizalfos, a dungeon mini-boss. It’s really just a speedier Lizalfos with a curse instead of fire coming out of its mouth. |
20 | Defeat it in the same manner you would a regular lizalfos, and have your shield ready to Shield Bash the dark energy it generates to prevent being damaged by its attacks. |
21 | Collect some Rupees with your Beetle before accomplishing anything else in this room. |
22 | Some may be found in a cave to the south, while others can be found on a dragon statue to the north. In the jaws of this dragon statue is a broken boulder. |
23 | You may use your Beetle into an opening with a Blue Rupee to capture one of the Bomb Flowers behind it. |
24 | To release the stone mouth, loop around the corner and use your Beetle bomber into it. |
25 | The lava may now flow freely again after the barrier has been removed. To create a solid slab that can now transport you across the area, hit the Water Fruit above the now-flowing lava. |
26 | While shooting arrows at the Bokoblins on the other side, ride it to the far west ledge. Unlock the door and walk into it. |
27 | For the time being, ignore the captured Mogma and go to the right. Clear the scorching magma spots with the Gust Bellows so you can reach the Chest at the end of the hallway and collect the Small Key inside. |
28 | Backtrack a little and enter the previous room’s closed door. This room has two chests, one of which contains a Red Rupee and the other a Monster Horn. |
29 | A pot with a Pink Fairy inside is also near the Red Rupee chest (along the south wall, lower level). |
30 | Stand in front of the familiar frog fire gate on the upper level. Turn around and stab one of the Water Fruits through the decorative wall with your sword, causing it to adhere to your blade. |
31 | Turn around and swing your sword at the frog, sending the fruit flying in its direction. When the flame barrier has subside, go to the next room, stopping only at the Bird Statue to save your progess. As you fight with the Bokoblins, keep an eye out for the Dark Keese. |
32 | The Magmanos pair, the dungeon’s mini-boss, will be your opponent here. Jump down and stand on the left-hand rock. When one of the Magmanos appears, he will push you higher. |
33 | Jump over and slash one of the surrounding plants with your sword, securing it to your sword. Jump back down to where the Magmanos are, keeping the bulb on your sword. |
34 | When one of the Magmanos comes from the steel cages on the ground, throw the water bulb at it, and it will turn to solid rock. The Magmanos will be eliminated if you slash them with your sword. To beat this mini-boss, repeat the process with the second Magmanos. |
35 | The lava will drain from this area and the nearby door will unlock after both Magmanos have been defeated. Silva will talk with you and seek for your assistance. |
36 | To get the Mogma down, go through this door and pull the lever. As a thank you for rescuing him, he’ll gift you the Mogma Mitts. The Mogma Mitts may be used to travel through underground passageways. |
Fire Sanctuary – Part 2
1 | Run over to the metal-reinforced window here, you’ll find a soft soil spot nearby and now that we have the Mogma Mitts. Burrow underground with the Mogma Mitts. |
---|---|
2 | As you make your way to the Bomb Flower, chip away at the tiny stones with your Mitts. It will roll towards the tough debris up ahead if you hit it from below. |
3 | The blast will clear it out, allowing you to reach the ray of light that marks the spot where you’ll resurface. (Be sure to move out of the way so you don’t get hurt by the explosion.) |
4 | There’s a Bird Statue where you can save your progress. The Gust Bellows may be used to remove the magma pools in this chamber. |
5 | A new dig spot is hidden beneath one of them to the east, behind a closed gate. You may dig here to uncover a subterranean section with a switch that opens the above-ground gate. To open the gate above, you must crawl to the red switch and punch it with your Mogma Mitts. |
6 | A Bokoblin-filled area is accessible through the gate. Shoot arrows at them and seek for a foot switch nearby that offers a route back to a previous area before crossing the abyss. |
7 | Now that you have your new Mogma Mitts, you should return though this gate in search of an Empty Bottle. Return to the room where you originally encountered the Magmanos by entering the door. |
8 | Near the Bird Statue, there is a dig spot that leads to a subterranean chamber with a switch that opens another gate. |
9 | Resurface on the far side after opening the gate. You’ll find a room full with Water Fruit if you run down the stairs. These may be used to take out the Magmanos. |
10 | To open the gate, push the pressure switch. Carry the Water Fruit into the Magmanos chamber after stabbing it. |
11 | Allow it to rise from the lava while you run around. Slash and toss the Fruit at it till it crumbles. This clears the lava from the room. |
12 | On the west side of the now-drained pit, there is an opening that leads to a chest with an Empty Bottle inside of it. |
13 | Return with the Bokoblin archers to the external area and drop down to find a Goddess Wall. (Draw an arrow to replenish your arrow supply.) To get to the upper eastern door, use the Clawshots.) |
14 | Look around near the southernmost wall after the short cutscene with the imprisoned Mogma to locate a hole you may burrow through. |
15 | To move the gates above, you must first go underneath and press two switches. To activate both, you must hit them in the same order. First, turn on the switch in the upper right corner. |
16 | You’ll be able to reach a water fruit once you’re back on the surface. To destroy another set of fire barriers, attach it to your sword and throw it at the frog head, then pull the lever in the previously blocked-off area to free the second imprisoned Mogma here. |
17 | It will inform you about a false wall and offer you the Dungeon Map once you save the imprisoned Mogma! |
18 | After the discussion, use the map to find the fake wall that you can blow apart with Bombs (it’s near the Mogma-freeing switch on the east end of the chamber). |
19 | Beyond the fake wall, crawl down into the pit and you’ll run across a Moldorm. Strike its tail three times to beat it. With each hit, it loses some parts, making it more difficult to catch up to its weak place. |
20 | As it pursues you, try to persuade it to crash into a wall to stun it so you may sneak around to its rear. Once you’ve dispatched it, go to the tunnel through the opposite exit. |
21 | Climb up the nearby vines. Drop down to the area where the fake wall used to be and go a few rooms west to the Bird Statue adjacent to the closed door use the Small Key you found in the chest. (Your map will show you the way). |
22 | Enter the closed door and shoot the Water Fruit into the lava. Ascend the staircase to the western section. Burrow into the hole at the end of the route that circles around the right side. |
Fire Sanctuary – Part 3
1 | You may burrow into the ground in the far northwest corner of the Fire Sanctuary (Floor 1). |
---|---|
2 | When you engage the switch to move the gate, a Mogma in the crawlspace with you will deactivate it and escape. |
3 | It’s a bit tricky to do this and try catching him at a crossroads or corner and swiftly running into him (remember that you can sprint while crawling). If you successfully catch up to him, he’ll gift you a Piece of Heart. |
4 | To open the gate and climb out, hit the switch. To create a sturdy platform, shoot down the Water Fruit. Ride down the lava flow to the east ledge by jumping onto the platform. |
5 | After saving, go outdoors and burrow into the hole adjacent to the Bird Statue. |
6 | Clear the three stones in the corner at the top of the screen to get to the Bomb Flower you need to blow through. |
7 | Smack the Bomb Flower at the bottom of the screen. As a result of the explosion, the tunnel will begin to fill with lava, and you should return the way you came. As you escape, be sure you pass the Stamina Fruit. |
8 | You’ll see that the lava has moved and is now flowing freely once you’re outside. To open the gate and create a shortcut, press the switch. |
9 | Drop the Water Fruit into the lava to create a floating platform. Ride on it to the central area. |
10 | On this ledge are two statues in lava, and the Boss Door is there. It is called The Bridge of Decision. |
11 | You’ll have to leap into the mouth of the sleeping one (as stated by a stone at the start of the dungeon), so look to the one on the left — its eyes are closed. |
12 | Take a leap of faith, and just as you think you’re about to land on lava, a platform will appear. Use the Sailcloth to break your fall, then enter the statue’s mouth. In the area just before the door, there is a Goddess Wall. |
13 | You’ll be greeted by two Dark Lizalfos. Running and jumping up onto the ledge, where they can’t strike you, is an easy way to beat them; however, make sure you remain on the extreme edge so they can spew curse at you. |
14 | When they begin to spit curses, shoot them with an arrow. Enter the door behind you after the Lizaflos are dead. |
15 | At the foot of the spiral staircase there is another Goddess Wall. Ascend the tower, killing the Keese before using the Clawshots on the vines is a must. You can leap across each gap if you sprint. |
16 | You must solve a puzzle involving statues and digging in the area at the top of the stairs. Five statues, each with a different number of wings, are on display. Keep track of which statues have how many wings. |
17 | Make your way down into the tunnel by digging. The secret is to turn on the switches beneath the statues in the sequence that the statues specify (the one-winged statue first, then the two-winged one, etc.). |
18 | To activate the first light pad, crawl towards the top of the screen. Hang a right to activate the second, then descend, avoiding the light pad above the Bomb Flower, and roll the Bomb upwards to clear the boulder, allowing you to reach the third pad (go around to reach it). |
19 | The one close to the bomb is number four, and the one at the upper left portion of the tunnel is number five. |
20 | A Moldorm will crawl into the tunnel when you successfully activate the statues in the correct order, and a gate will close, stopping you from leaving. |
21 | After you’ve defeated it, return to your burrow. The Mysterious Crystals (Boss Key) may be found in the Chest behind the now-open gate. |
22 | Through the door to the west, you’ll discover a switch and a shortcut back to the Boss Door. See if there are any pots with a Pink Fairy around. |
23 | Return to the Bird Statue on The Bridge of Decision to save your progress. Put the Mysterious Crystals in the Boss Key Slot and spin it until it resembles a key. |
Fire Sanctuary – Demon Lord Ghirahim
1 | Ghirahim will appear in the sanctuary, revealing the second Gate of Time. He doesn’t know where it is, so you’re safe for now. He’ll attack you for refusing to provide its location, and this fight is different from the last time. |
---|---|
2 | Ghirahim will begin by following your movements, like in the previous encounter. To confuse him, keep your blade stationary in front of you and slash. |
3 | Try not to hit the daggers he summons this time — swing through them and then attack again. |
4 | To stop his projectiles after you assault, use Shield Bash counter attacks. He’ll summon twice as many daggers after a few strikes, reducing your attack window. Because your sword is stronger, this round of the combat will be quicker. |
5 | Ghirahim will reappear with two swords in the second portion of the battle. In defense, he’ll grip his swords like a Stalfos, with one side exposed. To increase the damage, slice him horizontally down his exposed side, then slash again. |
6 | If you fail to strike him, he will instantly and without fail unleash a strong counterattack. He’ll also throw a complex chain of daggers your way, such as a ring of them both horizontally and vertically surrounding you. |
7 | Spin Attacks will cut them from the air; watch for the dagger pattern: Perform a horizontal Spin Attack if they encircle you; a vertical Spin Attack if they arch over your head. |
8 | All of Ghirahim’s other dagger strikes may be use of Shield Bash back in his face. The perfect moments to hit him are when he’s defending and when he’s launching a newattack — a dive bomb from above. When he lands, sprint out of the way and hack at him. |
9 | Avoid getting too near to him later in the battle, when he’ll be more aggressive and less defensive. Wait for him to attack from above. Keep going, and he’ll withdraw. |
10 | Gather your Heart Container in the area after the battle. Take Din’s Flame and leave the chamber. It will purify your weapon to the highest level possible, awarding you the Master Sword, the blade of evil’s bane. It hasn’t yet reached its full potential, but it now possesses the power of the three creator Goddesses! |
11 | After completing this dungeon, you will receive a Heart Piece by simply going back to the front entrance. |
