Chapter 16: Song of the Hero Walkthrough
Sealed Grounds – The Imprisoned (3rd Encounter)
1 | Fly to Faron Woods and land at Sealed Grounds. |

2 | After talking to Groose, go down to the bottom of and prepare to battle The Imprisoned again. |
3 | As with the previous encounters against The Imprisoned, attack its toes and use the Groosenator to slow it down. Keep attacking the seal on its head whenever it goes down and the second phase of the fight will begin.
The boss will now gain the ability to fly. Use the Groosenator to shoot it down, causing it to fall to the ground. Attack the seal on its head until the third phase of the fight begins. The Groosenator will lose its supply of bombs during the third phase. Quickly go up to Groose using the geysers. Then, use the catapult to fly toward The Imprisoned’s head and attack the seal. Perform a Skyward Strike on the seal and attack it using directional slashes to finally defeat the boss. |
4 | Head up to the Sealed Temple and talk to the old woman. Afterwards, talk to Groose and use Groosenator to reach Faron Woods. |
Faron Woods – Getting Faron’s Part of the Song of the Hero
1 | Swim toward the Kikwi and talk to him. Afterwards, make your way southeast to the entrance of the Great Tree by diving into the bottom of the water. |

2 | Pass through the tunnel and enter the Great Tree. Swim up to the top to talk to Faron. Afterwards, you will need to find all 17 Tadtones to obtain a part of the Song of the Hero. |
3 | Note that you must collect all Tadtones of a color group for it to count. There is a time limit for collecting Tadtones of a specific color. If you run out of time, it will reset, forcing you to start collecting Tadtones of that color group again.
Be sure to use dash attacks to collect clumps of Tadtones quickly within the color group’s time limit. |
4 | Before diving into the water, climb the tree and take out the Bokoblin along the way.
Approach the section of the ledge ahead where it stretches out over the water. You will also see blessed butterflies nearby. Move toward the edge and you should see two lilypads below. Drop down toward the second lilypad by jumping off from the cliff. Once you land on the lilypad, it will spin to reveal a note here. |
5 | From here, start looking for the remaining Tadtones. Head northeast of the Great Tree to find 1 Yellow Note under the lilypad. To reach it, go up the higher ledge and jump down. |
6 | Swim south of the Great Tree near Bucha and do a dash attack to get 8 Yellow Notes |
7 | Head southwest of the Great Tree. At the bottom of the woods, you will find 4 Turquoise Notes moving in circles underneath the higher platform. |
8 | Southeast of the Great Tree. At the bottom of the woods again, swim toward the underwater entrance to the Great Tree. One Turquoise Note is find near some spiked bombs. Be careful when you approach it. |
9 | Go east from the Great Tree. A Red Note can be found near the entrance to the Silent Realm. |
10 | Head northeast of the woods at the stone structure. You will find 4 Purple Notes there near some spiked bombs. |
11 | Go northeast of the woods to find 8 Turquoise Notes near the bottom of the area. |
12 | Swim northwest of the Great Tree to find a Froak in front of a boulder. Hit the Froak with a dash attack to cause it to explode and destroy the boulder to find 1 Green Note. |
13 | Northwest of the Great Tree again are 4 Red Notes moving around the path. |
14 | Go west from the Great Tree to find 2 Blue Note in the grass on each side of the path. |
15 | West of the Great Tree where a Parella is found near the tunnel are 8 Green Notes. |
16 | Head to the southwest corner of Faron Woods to find 16 Purple Notes near some poison bubbles that deplete your oxygen. Be sure to grab the air bubble in the middle of the pathway if you run into too many poison bubbles. |
17 | Go to the southwest section of Faron Woods. To the north of Machi and Lopsa are two Red Notes found in the grass. |
18 | Head south of Faron Woods to the circular path leading to Lake Floria to find 4 Purple Notes. |
19 | Go to the southeast section of Faron Woods to find a tunnel underneath the tree for 4 Yellow Notes. |
20 | Head south from Erla’s location in Faron Woods. You need to move through the small gaps to reach the area to find 1 Purple Note. |
21 | Move to the east section of Faron Woods to find 8 Purple Notes in the circular area. |
22 | Return to Faron inside the Great Tree to learn part of the Song of the Hero. |
23 | Use the Bird Statue and travel back to the sky. Note that you can now opt to do The Strange Plant side quest at the Knight Academy in Skyloft. Talk to Instructor Owlan to begin the quest. After clearing it, you will get 5 Gratitude Crystals as a reward. |
Eldin Volcano – Getting Eldin’s Part of the Song of the Hero
1 | Travel to Eldin Volcano. After awakening from your crash, you will notice that your items have disappeared. |

2 | Get some hearts by breaking the pots in the room. Then, lift the barrel and listen to Plats. He will give you back the Mogma Mitts afterwards. |
3 | Dig under the soft soil nearby and head for the light at the underground passage. |
4 | Enter the hut and sit on the stool to heal. |
5 | Follow the path to the Bird Statue. Afterwards, move forward and jump down to the platform below. |
6 | After meeting Plats again, he will mark the items found inside the treasure chests in the area. Avoid the Bokobins patrolling the area or you will lose two hearts and be transported back to a nearby location from where you were caught. |
7 | Go up the wall and wait for the Bokoblin in the distance to walk away. Follow him while he has not seen you and drop off the platform on your left. |
8 | Dig under the hold in the ground. Then, break the rocks and use the bomb to destroy the boulder. Use the second bomb to take out the other boulder and follow the light to return above ground. |
9 | Go up the ramp and avoid the searchlight from the tower. Jump down and dig under the soft soil. Ignore the Moldorm in the underground passage and move to the light to resurface again. |
10 | Make your way up the two platforms and open the chest containing the Gust Bellows. |
11 | Use the Gust Bellows to blow the ash and go up the platforms. Move past the two Bokoblins and dig under the soft soil. |
12 | Ignore the Moldorm again and break the rocks along the way to reach the light before resurfacing again. |
13 | Drop down to find a treasure chest containing the Clawshots. |
14 | Go north to find some Peahats you can latch to using the Clawshots. Use them to reach some vines you can climb down to. |
15 | Move around the corner and ride the platform to cross the lava. |
16 | Ride the platform and jump onto the platform on the right with a torch. |
17 | Watch out for the Bokoblin patrolling nearby. You need to head north by the back of the gate. |
18 | Aim for the latch point using the Clawshots and go up the vines. Grab a bomb flower and destroy the tower on your right. |
19 | Open the chest ahead containing the Whip. Afterwards, head over to the bridge and aim your the plant through the gate. |
20 | When the Peahat appears, latch on to it with the Clawshots. Afterwards, grab a bomb flower and destroy the boulder along the path on your right. Destroy the second boulder in the area as well. |
21 | Head to the top of the area using the wind geyser. Afterwards, cross the bridge. |
22 | Follow the pathway and ignore the enemies along the way. Head for the Peahats on your left and reach the moving platforms. |
23 | Ride the platform along the lava waterfall. Afterwards, drop down to the ledge on your right. |
24 | Grab a bomb flower and jump onto the moving platforms. Afterwards, throw the bomb to destroy the nearby tower. |
25 | After the tower is destroyed, jump over and get the Slingshot from the treasure chest. |
26 | Climb back up and head for the entrance of the Earth Temple by latching on the Peahats using the Clawshots. |
27 | As you approach the entrance, some Bokoblins will come into view. You need get past the first Bokoblin on the path by avoiding its line of sight. It will constantly look to the left and then right so keep this pattern in mind and move along the side. Then, take out the Bokoblin with your Slingshot to stun it. Use this chance to run ahead and you will come to another Bokoblin along the path. Wait for it to turn around before hitting it with the Slingshot as well. |
28 | Move ahead past the Bokoblin and towards another tower with a Bokoblin above. Shoot the Bokoblin to disable the light and move across to a soft spoil spot. |
29 | Dig through the soil spot to reach an underground passage. Head for the boulders and destroy them to reach the light to resurface. |
30 | Get the Bomb Bag from the treasure chest. Afterwards, dig through the nearby soil spot to reveal a geyser. |
31 | Go up to the upper platform using the geyser. Then, throw a bomb to topple the pillar. |
32 | Make the long trip back to the bridge near the big geyser. Get past the two Bokoblins and toward the bridge. |
33 | You will come across one of the Mogmas again. Destroy the rocks using bombs. Then, go up the ramp. |
34 | Head to the Volcano Summit and go up the cliff to find the Master Sword. |
35 | After retrieving the sword, go right. Move east and go past the Cursed Spumes to the moving platform. |
36 | Look to your right to find a Goddess Cube. Hit the cube with a Skyward Strike and ride the platform east. |
37 | Just before the tunnel, go left and follow the path. In the next room, grab the Water Bulb using your sword and head to the next room. |
38 | Use the Water Bulb to reach the area with the Bokoblin and Keese. Take them out, and get the Adventure Pouch and the rest of your items from the treasure chest. |
39 | Go up the nearby ledges and destroy the boulder using a bomb. Head back to the area with the Cursed Spume by sliding down and use the platform to reach the tunnel from earlier. |
40 | As you move along the tunnel, you will come across the device holding the drawbridge. Cut the rope to make lower the drawbridge slightly. Afterwards, use the Beetle and fly it to two other ropes on the bridge’s sides. |
41 | Go into the next room to find Eldin who will teach you another part of the Song of the Hero. |
42 | Once you are transported outside the Earth Temple, use the Bird Statue to go up to the sky. |
Side Quests
1 | From here, you can choose to talk to Kina at the Pumpkin Landing to begin the Plow Needed side quest. Clearing it rewards you with 5 Gratitude Crystals. |

2 | After collecting up to 80 Gratitude Crystals, talk to Batreaux at the graveyard to get the Tycoon Wallet which lets you carry 9000 Rupees. Note that enemies will not appear at nighttime from here onward after you have completed all Gratitude Crystal side quests. |

Lanayru Gorge – Getting Lanayru’s Part of the Song of the Hero
1 | Head for the Bird Statue at the Lanayru Mine Entry. |

2 | Use the Clawshots on the latch point and listen to the Goron. |
3 | Along the edge of the platform are some more latch points so use your Clawshots to reach the cave at the end of the path. |
4 | Drop down from the ledge. Go left to find a rocky passage below. |
5 | Destroy the rocks by rolling a bomb through the passage. Afterwards, squeeze through the small opening to reach Lanayru Gorge. |
6 | Go forward and past the large dragon bones and use the Bird Statue at the gorge’s entrance. |
7 | Afterwards, fly your beetle to the nearby bomb and destroy the boulder in the way. Then, jump across the gap to reach the ramp on the other side. |
8 | Go down the ramp toward the pillar ahead. Use the beetle again to get the Small Key near the pillar. Open the locked door up up the ramp and go inside. |
9 | Further ahead are some Peahats you can latch to using the Clawshots to cross the gap. |
10 | When you come across the mine cart with a timeshift stone, hit it with your sword. Afterwards, talk to the robot to activate the mine cart. |
11 | Move along the rails to the next area and walk on the switch on the floor. |
12 | Take out the enemies that appear and step on the switch near the end of the area. |
13 | Make your way over the platforms and take out the Technoblins. Use your Clawshots to reach the vines ahead and go up to find a switch on the floor again. |
14 | Step on the switch to open the door to the next room. Go inside and jump toward the platforms while the mine cart moves along the rail. |
15 | Go around and climb the vines upward. Move across to the other side and deal with the Deku Baba that appears. |
16 | Clawshot your way back to reach the other side from the upper platform and press the switch on the floor. This will allow the mine cart to continue along the pathway. |
17 | Aim your Clawshots at the vines at the other side. Move against the wall, along the vines, and clawshot your way along the latch points to reach the next floor switch to move the cart along. |
18 | Aim your Clawshots on the latch point on the other side of the room. Wait for the mine cart to activate the series of latch points ahead and make your way across to the vines at the end. |
19 | Take out the ChuChu and Deku Baba while heading for the gate. Pull the lever behind the gate using the Whip. Follow the pathway but be careful of the blade traps in the area. |
20 | Deal with the Technoblin along the way. Afterwards, swing across the gap by latching on the bar above using your whip. |
21 | Take out more enemies on the platform and take swing to the next area. |
22 | Follow the mine cart by moving past the spikes. Go up the sandy slope and pick up the Stamina Fruit. Afterwards, use the lever to open the door to the next room. |
23 | Follow the mine cart inside the room. Note that you do not need to take on all of the enemies that activate here as they will be deactivated when the cart moves past them. |
24 | Head to the end of the path and take out the Beamos blocking the mine cart’s path. Pull the lever to allow the mine cart to continue forward and follow it again. |
25 | Jump over to the platforms on the left and take out the Deku Baba. When the mine cart stop, use your beetle to grab a bomb flower on the right by the lower pillar. Use it to destroy the boulder blocking the cart’s path. Continue along the platforms while taking out more enemies along the way. |
26 | Follow the mine cart to Lanayru and talk to him. Afterwards, go northeast and cross the bridge. |
27 | Move on the sand and go up the platform to the Tree of Life. Then, blow away the sand using the Gust Bellows to find a timeshift stone. |
28 | Strike the stone with your sword and grab the Life Tree Seedling. After talking to the robot, drop down from the ledge and hit the Goddess Cube nearby using a Skyward Strike. Then, head for the Bird Statue. |
29 | You will notice that the bridge from before has disappeared. Fly your beetle to the timeshift stone ahead to make the bridge appear again. Use the Bird Statue and head back to the sky. |
30 | Travel to the Faron region and head for the Sealed Grounds. Enter the Sealed Temple and go to the Gate of Time. |
31 | Move to the side of the temple and plant the Life Tree Seedling. Afterwards, head back through the Gate of Time to find the seedling fully grown into a tree. |
32 | Roll toward the tree to make the Life Tree Fruit fall and pick it up. |
33 | Travel to Lanayru Gorge and talk to Lanayru and give him the Life Tree Fruit to learn his part of the Song of the Hero. Note that when you return to Lanayru, you will unlock the Thunder Dragon’s Lightning Round which is essentially a boss rush mini game. Clearing a specific number of battles rewards you with useful items (including the final Heart Piece and the powerful Hylian Shield) and Rupees so it is worth spending time on it if you want. You will also be able to replay Silent Realm areas here to earn rewards based on your clear time. |
34 | Travel back to Thunderhead to talk to Levias. |
Thunderhead – Skyloft Silent Realm
1 | Head for the small island in Thunderhead and look for the soft soil. Use the Mogma Mitts to dig under. |

2 | Head for the exit blocked by some boulders that you can destroy. Resurface and climb up the vines to find a Goddess Chest containing an Empty Bottle. |
3 | Afterwards, head back to the passage and head for other exit to find another Goddess Chest. Open it to get a Small Quiver. |
4 | Head back and return to where the light is shining by the dead end to exit the passage. |
5 | Land on Levias and talk to him to learn the final part of the Song of the Hero. |
6 | Afterwards, travel to Skyloft and go to the Light Tower. Use Dowsing to find the gate of the Skyloft Silent Realm trial. |
7 | Play the Song of the Hero to enter the Silent Realm. As with the previous Silent Realm challenges, you will need to find the Tears to fill up the Spirit Vessel. |
8 | Once you have collected all Tears, you will get the Stone of Trials. This must be used to match with another of the same type just nearby. |
9 | Afterwards, go northeast of the island in the direction of the Waterfall and cross the platforms on the water. |
10 | Go left to the statue and place the Stone of Trials there. Afterwards, use the latch points to clawshot your way to the Sky Keep. |
